Any internet message board will have some friction -- typed messages are notoriously susceptible to misinterpretation and, unfortunately, rancor. We've mostly avoided that on this forum, but my slacker staff suggested I post a reminder about our goals (just like them to ask me -- it involves no work on their part and, best of all, they get to criticize the end-product at no cost to themselves. Sort of like being a fan and posting about players and coaches on an internet message board ) So, when you post your comments, please be respectful of other commenters and other viewpoints. Remember, post in haste, regret after the replies flood in. Also remember, parents of players do read this forum. Ask yourself -- would you want to read your post if it were about your daughter -- is it fair commentary, or is it venting your own frustration? Are you about to post something that too easily will be interpreted as cruel, rather than productive criticism? Our goal at the DigNittanyVolleyball Forum is to provide a space for civil, informative and constructive conversations. We reserve the right to remove any comment we deem to be defamatory, rude, insulting to others, hateful, off-topic or reckless to the community. See our full Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. In addition, the Terms of Use expressly states: Final note: no single post is the sole motivator for this thread -- nothing to see here in that regard. As I said, Slacker Staff said it was time. And I rely on their judgment for a surprisingly broad array of decisions.

I agree completely, If anyone wants to be rude they can always go to the volley talk site. Which I no longer visit because of that.

Alternatively, as Alice Roosevelt Longworth supposedly said, "If you don't have anything nice to say about anyone, come sit by me...."

I'm trying to figure out the motive for that one... was that so she can hear all the juicy, nasty gossip about other people? LOL!

Agree. Jonni has a very high volleyball IQ and as she gets stronger, she will become a reliable pillar on this team. Note: I deleted the writeups for these three plasyers, which were copied without permission from PrepVolleyball.com (or somewhere else that copied them without permission). At DigNittanyVolleyball.com, we adhere to U.S. Copyright law -- which in simple terms says you can't copy someone else's work without their written permission (the "Fair Use" exceptions don't apply here.) PrepVolleyball.com relies on subscriptions. It's a pay service. I understand that many forum members don't understand why copying is a problem, but the simple answer is you are stealing someone else's work. Please don't.
Jonni has ranked #14; below are the 2019 recruits: 93. Gabi Bailey, 6-1 OH, Lawrence Academy (Groton, Massachusetts), AVC – Penn State 44. Sydney Ferguson, 6-3 OH, North Stafford (Stafford, Virginia), VA Juniors – Penn State 31. Lauren Clark, 6-0 OH, Champlin Park (Champlin, Minnesota), MN Select – Penn State If a Nittany Lion fan heads off this site to read a good article somewhere else, is it wrong to come back here to share that information. Perhaps I should have paraphrase the information which I have purchased from them.

Bob, I think the bolded statement is clear: noone should copy material from another site without permission from the owners of that site and/or the owners of the material (all material is "copyright" protected from the moment it is created and "fixed in a tangible medium of expression.") This is all the more true for a site like PrepVolleyball.com, which is a pay site, which provides the sole source of income for lots of people, who work very hard to earn it. As an editor who has reviewed literally thousands of articles, all too often when someone says they paraphrased something, what they mean is they copied it, then changed a few words. That's not OK. What I would suggest instead is that you simply write that complete writeups on the players are available on PrepVolleyball.com, and include a link. So to answer your question, to copy the written work, or to essentially copy all the ideas, but change the words a bit, is wrong. Please don't do it. Thanks. Nyline

I believe Prepvolleyball states that the senior ace list in its entirety is copyrighted and is not to be published or copied as a complete list. You must realize that information in the list itself is not "top secret" or directly related to our national security, but just a list of opinions from numerous people. The importance of the information is temporary and decreases in value as you get past the top ten or twenty names. Permission has been given in the past for limited information to be shared. This reminds me of the NFL warning that any sharing of descriptions of NFL games are prohibited. If Prepvolleyball has any problems with me they can refund my ten-year subscription. Since this is your site I will respectively honor your request _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The following is a reminder from Nyline, added on December 16, 2018:Everyone agreed to Terms of Use: when they registered for this site. Among them is the following: The fact that PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces list is not "top secret" or "directly related to our national security" is totally irrelevant to whether they, as the creators of the copyrighted material, have the right to determine who can copy it, and subject to what conditions. If anyone is dissatisfied with the terms of their PrepVolleyball.com membership, they certainly can take it up with PrepVolleyball.com. That has nothing to do with whether this site will permit copyright infringement -- we won't, and the overwhelming majority of our members have adhered to that policy for the entire time we've been in operation. We appreciate the cooperation and support.
