Don't blame her to be honest. She was the star of the Under Armour All-American, had a very good first season at PSU and was then sidelined for much of this season. Good luck AC - it will be interesting to see what impact you have with your new team

There will be LOTS more players in the portal in the next week! More PSU players? Or more players from other teams?
This is a guess. It seems like Oerther would check with Gabby about her plans for next year and check with Russ about her chances for starting next year before making a decision. Or maybe it was something other than playing time which I doubt.
It's a hassle to transfer schools. Not just for VB reasons but also for getting transfer classes to count toward graduation.

I personally do not blame anyone that wants to play, because you have a very limited time in which to do so unless you are good enough to go professional, which most of them are not, so if they want to play then the only way to do that would be to go elsewhere. I am not sure of the rules involving transfers, but I think you can only do it once, and if that's the case they better choose wisely.

I followed up on Sydney Ferguson who was with the team for a year (2019?) and Putnicky. IIRC they each transferred more than once, and in one case it seemed related to seeking a better academic atmosphere (Witchita State wasn't cutting it for Putnicky).

Are you trying to become this forum's tomclen? I have a long history of bad puns. I can't help myself. Perhaps it is a diagnosable condition -- tomclenism?

It appears Hampton is in the portal. Strong rumors are that Hord and Blossom will soon enter the portal.

Not gonna lie. This all really stings. It has me concerned about why multiple players would choose to go.

No one is gonna want to hear it But it appears the program is mirroring the mens volleyball Program and heading toward irrelevance It sucks but it sure looks like coach rose is following the path of many brilliant coaches who stick around too long for the modern athlete Jerry York at Boston college is another As was red berenson Coach k might be another although he is sure still recruiting elite athletes
Who the hell is gonna play the middle positions next fall ? There are none in the pipeline and as we saw this year the Transfer portal doesnāt always provide a satisfactory answer

Not gonna lie. This all really stings. It has me concerned about why multiple players would choose to go. Well, Hampton, Blossom, and Hord all have graduated and all have played four years at Penn State. I think Parker still has some student teaching to finish up -- not sure about that -- but she will graduate. I don't think she's going to come back at Penn State (I have no inside information on that -- or anything, really; I just speculate), and may well just want to get on with her career teaching and working with kids with hearing issues (I know there is a more precise term for her area of study, but the name is eluding me). These past "two" seasons really ended up being a very, very long single season, played in two parts, with no break to speak of between them. Maybe those three are just a bit burnt out? I have no idea. If I were in their shoes, I can easily understand wanting to at least think about an alternative -- something different. I am willing to bet there will also be transfers coming in -- I have no idea who or when, but I think there will be. And really, without the extra Covid year, all of those players would already have used up their eligibility, and we wouldn't be having this conversation, it would all be about the contributions they made, and wishing them luck in the future. I think we can still have that conversation. Best of luck to them, wherever they go, unless they play against Penn State, in which case I hope they miss the plane, bus or train.

Coach K has announced his retirement and is on his farewell tour (fwiw). As a UNC and Penn State fan, I thought Roy Williams did the right thing in stepping down. His ways weren't working anymore and he realized it.
I agree that multiple players wanting to leave is a bad sign and wonder about comments I've seen that say that Rose is old school and young women don't relate to him. Yikes.
