Nice job Ethan. An excellent profile of one of our elite freshmen players.

Well done young man.
Perhaps NYline can put you on the payroll. I havent seen a check for 6-7 years but he keeps telling me "its in the mail."

Great article. From reading it, I now know Jonni Parker and I have much in common -- we both think Micha Hancock and Megan Courtney were great players at PSU.

I think it's a tell for the opposition when Hord and others shield their heads...incoming! LOL. Couldn't figure out what they were doing at first, but that was after it looked like Hord might have been concussed by a miss.
Small wonder Hancock is an inspiration.

Great article. I am a huge Jonni fan and we are very fortunate that she found her way to PSU.

I feel like such a hypocrite about Jonni saying she was too inconsistent to be elite. She finally got good setting against Northwestern and had a super performance and convinced me she is elite. I am hoping we have solved our setting woes for good.

I am hoping we have solved our setting woes for good. We are all anxious for our young players to get better. We just have to remember that individuals progress at different speeds, and success depends not only on teammates but also upon what the opponents can do. Parker benefits when we get solid passing making it easier to set balls where she likes to hit. It also helps when our other hitters are effective and that she has been able to take advantage of the opponent's defensive strategies. The point is that inconsistency may have more to do with teammates and opponents than with the individual's match by match performance. Parker will apply what she has learned as 6 rotation player to keep improving. But don't be surprised if her hitting percentage goes down some when she is asked to do even more next year (eg: primary serve reception or second setter) Elite is in the eye of the beholder. To my eye, she was the most advanced of the Freshmen (and is still). But that may mean that the others will improve too and in turn make Parker better as a result.
