Sunderland and Kiraly are worth listening to. (Eg: Kiraly doesn't over compliment anybody, Sunderland calls every ace a "shank pass") How many 'good' passes were there that were too close to the net for the setter to set well? Still, definitely better than play-by-play in previous years. These two watch a lot of International volleyball and so have the highest standards for comparison. I noted with interest that Kiraly criticized Stanford's libero as moving around a little too much (even though according to Hambly she is asked to cover extra ground). Sunderland knows that many aces at the college level are merely tough serves in the International game. (As an example, Micha went away from her spike/spin serve which was devastating in college because it was not nearly as effective at the pro-International level). Kiraly's participation is also interesting because these matches serve as a National team scouting opportunity. From that perspective, each error that Poulter made (eg: net serve in set 5) had potential long term consequences, since she was the only collegian in the National Team camp this year. So instead of just getting the usual polite cheerleaders, we got neutral and sometimes incisive commentary. If Kiraly said a play was terrific, then it probably was.
