Caught an ad in my inbox for championship apparel to celebrate the wrestling team's good fortune. I hadn't kept track this year. We truly miss what PSUMAUI brought to the table. Guess I gotta set my dvr to get a recap and watch the championship matches tonight.

Nicely done in the finals. Five wrestlers entered the finals and five emerged with National Championships. And some of them were underdogs. What's even better? I guess they all return next year.

This shows that great recruiting is essential to having elite teams year after year like we use to see in volleyball.

I think they sent five to the finals last year, but only two won championships. Those were five fun wins Saturday night. Glad I got them DVR'd. According to ESPN, it's only the fourth time that a team has had five champions.

According to ESPN, it's only the fourth time that a team has had five champions. Now Cael Sanderson has added another top wrestling recruit in Jarod Verkleeren. Whatever he tells these recruits it seems to really work. Perhaps the wrestling coaches could share their secrets with the WVB coaches who may have lost their mojo recently. |

It is simply naïve to believe that one coaches recruiting skill in wrestling is transferable to another coaches recruiting skill in another sport.

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby... Are you never content? Collecting wrestlers is like recruiting swimmers or track stars. Their speed or in the case of wrestling: power ranking; is available for all to see. Recently a two time state champ in Florida as a sophomore told me that she would have been the Division 3 NCAA champion or third in the Big Ten. She believes she will break the Division 1 national time early in the all. Times do not lie... Wrestling is similar and just as simple. Wrestlers wrestle nationally throughout high school from the Beast in the East tourney to the Nationals in Santa Fe. There are no surprises... Wrestling coaches never worry about team drama. They do not need to mold six into one. Be happy that the wrestling coach's life is that simple... When I need to hear about team building I look to to others. Thank God, PSU has Russ.
