We've finally added the 2018 stats -- in five sortable tables. We'll take a closer look at these over the next couple of weeks, but two things, which you already knew, stand out: 1) Taylor Leath, Nia Reed and Bryanna Weiskircher will really be missed; and 2) a lot of first-year players made big contributions in 2018. I guess PSU didn't supply stats for the Oregon and Stanford games?

I guess PSU didn't supply stats for the Oregon and Stanford games? The food here is terrible. And such small portions.

Personally, I miss every graduating player. However, because so many first year players got significant experience last year, even allowing for the fact that individuals progress at different rates, there is reason to hope for overall improvement.

Maintaining a half-full is good outlook is a good way to proceed. I'm trying to wrap my head around less is more.

1. Yes, we'll miss those that left us.
2. Can we do a glass-half-full discussion?
Here's my couple observations:
Wow. Jonni Blocks. Well. Very well. I missed that info.
Hampton. Given the limits on her playtime, 1.68 digs/set is really impressive. Love the White-Hampton back court.
3. Less than a month, folks. AIR?

I agree that Jonni Parker is a terrific player -- and also was surprised by her blocking totals. I thought she deserved B1G Freshman of the Year, but was surprised she received it (FOBS -- Fear of Being Slighted). I also am really impressed by Jenna Hampton. Really looking forward to the 2019 season.

My Rose colored glasses say:
Kaitlyn and Serena can both improve, especially with slide attacking (and terminating opponent over passes!!) Tori is obviously a leader and by all appearances sets a fine example through her willingness to do whatever it takes (perhaps Tori will play some OPP again). We can hope that Amanda will "grow" to the point where Coach has to find her more floor time, and of course expectations are high for Gabby who showed good confidence and skill. Then there is reason to hope that Allyson will harness her athleticism and make better hitting decisions, and that Jonni will be even more dangerous as her teammates improve (though she may have to take on a bigger role receiving and passing).
Then we have the impressive defensive group headed by (National Team candidate!) Kendall White and supported by Jenna. Both were excellent last season and bring positive energy to the floor.
All of that is without contributions from incoming players.
The point is that we had a very young team last year and lots of them played. In my mind, that increases the chances that with another Summer under their belts, at least one of the former Freshman will improve dramatically and fill the void(s) left by our relatively small graduating group. The cubbard is not bare, and actually we have fewer highly concerning questions coming into this season than we did last.
