We've posted a Stats Update for selected B1G team and individual overall statistics as of 9-28-15. Here's the link: Stats Update: B1G Stat Joust (Penn State, Nebraska, Iowa) (with NCAA Rankings)
As might be expected from its 13-0 record (and not overly challenging pre-conference schedule) Penn State leads in many of the team categories, although its averages dropped following its match against Wisconsin and 5-set win over Minnesota.
We’ve highlighted the entries for Penn State and its two upcoming opponents — Nebraska and Iowa — in colors meant to approximate their respective team colors. Where applicable, we’ve included how the teams (or individuals) rank in the most recent NCAA D1 rankings.
Penn State’s .114 Opponents’ Hitting % ranks 3rd in NCAA D1. Illinois ranks 8th, Purdue 9th, and Ohio State 16th. Penn State’s 3.20 blocks/set ranks 3rd in NCAA D1. Minnesota ranks 14th and Illinois 15th (based on total blocks). Haleigh Washington’s .527 hitting % leads NCAA D1. Haleigh Washington ranks 8th in NCAA D1 blocks/set, with Paige Tapp ranked 21st. (For some reason, although Amber Rolfzen leads the B1G with 1.61 blocks/set, she isn’t ranked by the NCAA — although it looks as though she played in enough sets to qualify. Then again, the NCAA on occasion seemingly marches to the beat of a different drummer. Why not a different statistician?)

Minnesota exposed virtually all of Penn State's weaknesses. Now the question is can Coach Rose remedy this situation quickly or are we just one or two players short of another championship season. Since I think Russ is he greatest coach that I have ever seen I can hardly wait for our match with Nebraska. I understand that this match counts the same as any other conference match but I think we have the players to prevail. If not, I hope we think about burning some redshirts to get even better.

I don't know whether either of the two redshirted (so far) players -- Gorrell and Novakovic -- would be an improvement. Gorrell plays MB, and it's possible that she would, though it's really hard to say unless you're seeing her play every day in practice -- which I am not (not at any practices). Novakovic plays RS/Opp -- unless Coach Rose has been holding back on the surprise of the decade, I don't see her being an improvement over Whitney (and from what I understand, she doesn't play middle).

You are probably right but Coach Rose will find the best outcome.

Coach Rose doesn't seem to me to be the sort of coach who holds back players today solely to save eligibility tomorrow. I think we will see Gorrell and/or Novakovic if he thinks they would improve the current lineup. One issue with this squad is that there are so many players who are getting their first significant live game reps this season. I think there's little that can be done other than let them get their reps and improve organically.
