Penn State climbed two spots to No. 6 in this week’s AVCA coaches’ poll. Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Illinois are still ranked above the Nittany Lions as far as Big Ten programs go.

So we watch the polls eventually adjust to reality as the inertia from last years poll eventually is overcome. Much as I like to see PSU at #6, they don't really belong there and only went up because teams above them lost. Just as possibly BYU and Kentucky positions in the poll are adjusting to reality. By the same token, one can't say too much about one preseason loss as it is preseason, (unless one is familiar with the teams which I am not), and sometimes good teams do lose to not so good teams; thinking of Nebraska in 2017 to Northern Iowa and PSU in 2011 to Oregon. Nice run-on sentence eh?

Nice run-on sentence eh? I don't think it was such a run-on sentence, really, but it did do a bit of a two-step there at the end And I think you are spot-on.

How many spots do we move after tonight’s matches? I’ll take all upward movement. But it’s preferred to win those jumps.

Question is now, where does Wisconsin end up? Me thinks they drops to 7-8 and Marguette moves up into top 10. Even if PSU losses to Stanford next weekend. They'll still be in the top 10.

There's only Iowa State, LSU, and Oregon to complicate things. What could go wrong?
