And that's a wrap. -16 -11 -16. .427 to .060. Blocks: 8.0 to 3.0. Sideout: .77 to .44.

It’s an upset. Hord hit under .500%

I wonder if Clark's play in the second set motivated Cathey in the third set?

I wonder if Clark's play in the second set motivated Cathey in the third set? She has to hit smarter as just hitting hard will not work against teams coming up

I'm guessing it means nothing. Now, time for a little trivia. Going back to 2018, just like in 2019, PSU started off the season 5-0 (all 3-0 set sweeps). The significance?
In 2018, PSU allowed opponents to get to 20 or more in 5 sets during that first 5 match stretch. In 2019, PSU allowed opponents to get to 20 or more points in only 1 set.

Their results are improved. Better PSU team? Weaker opponents? Lunar phase? I think this year's team looks a little better. Despite the experience differential, the setting looks more in sync with the hitters this year.

IMO, the difference in this year's team is: 1) Better setting - Blossom is doing a great job spreading the ball around (making the offense less predictable). ..........................Also, her defense has improved a lot and her set location is excellent (connects well with the middles). 2) Middles are improved - Both Gray and Hord can now hit the slide and they've been attacking the overpasses. 3) DS's are fantastic - We have 3 legit defensive specialists/liberos (White, Hampton, and Holcomb). 4) OH 's on par with 2018 - Cathey looks more complete (her defense and passing look good).
