Nebraska is really tough, to be sure, but Stanford outscored Nebraska by 18 aggregate points, whereas they only outscored PSU by six aggregate points. Small sample size, I know, but Penn State will be very tough too. Not that it means anything. PSU will likely be #2 in the AVCA poll next week ahead of Nebraska. Only if PSU beats Pitt both games this weekend

For sure. Nebraska has really good defense. They never give up and many balls come back that other teams would let drop. Nebraska doesn't have a terminal OH this year. They're having more trouble than before putting finishing points. Stivrins sure can punish the ball. But Nebraska's serve receive isn't great which will limit the middles to a degree. Small sample size, I know, but Penn State will be very tough too. I didn't mean to say that it won't be a good match. I guess I've seen so many losses to Nebraska that I tend to give Nebraska more credit than their record may appear to deserve. Nebraska is like an in-state school rivalry with PSU as they seem to always (or almost always) play at the top of their game when they play PSU, or sometimes even better. I'm also wondering about matchups. What are the pluses and minuses when playing Nebraska? I would say that our server receive is better, our middles are better, their OH hitters are better. Not sure about setting. Nebraska floor defense might be a little bit better, not sure about that.

I think Neb. defense is just as awesome as PSU, which makes the serve receive issue mystifying. Stanford serve is obviously challenging. They seemingly go for broke always, which accounts for the volume of Stanford serving errors. I have not seen Neb. receive against anyone else. Last night Neb. best hitter was a Freshman. Sometimes Freshmen get tired as the season drags on.

Wisconsin is an embarrassment this season. Well hopefully they stay that way when we visit Madison in a couple weeks.

Well, our best win is not looking so good anymore...and I'm sure it will hurt our RPI (along with Pitt's).
Oregon has just lost TWICE this week...they lost 3-1 at St. John's last night, and earlier today lost 3-2 at Duke, even though they had more points. Duke won 9-25, 28-26, 28-26, 19-25, 15-13

It's a long season and hopefully by the end of it they will be firing on all cylinders.

Rankings will be a mess this week. I think BTN Volleyball broadcasts may want to soft-pedal the "best conference in the country" hype for a few weeks.
