Thank you traveler, I think #8 for Penn State is about right. My only other thought is flip Stanford and Pittsburgh.

More important to the NCAA selection committee is RPI. Penn State's downfall is playing a couple of really weak non-conference matches. PSU is at #19. They will go up as the season moves on but have little chance at a #1 regional seed unless the team wins out from here.

they will play 6 top-30 teams, as of this week's rankings, in the BIG. I count 7 matches remaining against top 30; 6 of them against top 20 teams as of this week.
I'll be interested to see what the RPI does to Baylor and Pitt who I believe will be playing fewer matches against ranked opp. 73: have you seen any hint of that as yet?
Cheers...

They will go up as the season moves on but have little chance at a #1 regional seed unless the team wins out from here. As things stand presently, PSU's best hope would be Pitt receiving one of the top four seeds and PSU receiving the next highest seed in "Pitt's" region. If Pitt were to receive a 3 seed, perhaps PSU might hope for a 6 seed; or something like that.
