Big day tomorrow for England sports fans - final of the Rugby World Cup in Japan. England v South Africa, kick-off 9am UK time. Middle of the night in the US but hopefully lots of Americans will watch on catch-up when they get up on Saturday morning. I'll resist putting a celebratory post on until Saturday afternoon, US time. (Of course we'll be celebrating - England will definitely win!) Well david I will be rooting for England, Hope they win. It is being televised by NBC on 11/02/2019 I think around noon I forget, But it is definitely saturday. And I will watch it, Thanks for the heads up

By the way, since we are now covering Rugby on this site-we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the absolute dominance of the PSU women's rugby team. Although not a varsity sport, the ladies do have paid coaches and administrative support from the University. The ladies won at least 12 Rugby 15 National Championships, and at least one Rugby 7 National Championship(s).

I don't believe so, but I have managed to view one or two of their national championship matches online. It is yet another sport in which the Penn State / Stanford rivalry is alive and well.

Sometimes college rugby tourneys get televised. On at least two occasions there were rugby tourneys in the stadium where the Philadelphia Union soccer team plays, and there was some local tv coverage. Those tourneys were 7's however.

Most unfortunately, England save their worst performance for the final, losing 32-12 to South Africa. It was a poor game and a poor advert for the sport. South Africa had a game plan which successfully stifled England's free running style and led to many penalties. It didn't help that England lost a key player through injury less than 5 minutes into the match.
Most of the England team are relatively young and will be more experienced and stronger in 4 years time. Nerves may have got to some of them as there were many basic errors throughout the game.
If you want to see England at their best here's a link to a half-hour video of their brilliant semi final win against New Zealand.

Sorry to hear that. England played really well against New Zealand. They could have had another 3 trys in that match if it weren't for penalties. I'm from Chicago, and a fan of the Chicago Bears. Should make you an honorary member of the "Wait Till Next Year" Chicago Bears fan club. We were thinking that this would be a really good year, what with a good defense etc. but it turned out to be very disappointing. Even worse for you, I imagine, to get so close and then not play well. Very disappointing. And it's been quite a while since England took it all.

My condolences EPSF. At least it was still fairly close at the half.

Can't resist ... Also, my hometown women's volleyball team, the University of Nottingham, made it 2 wins out of 2 in the National Super League with a 3-1 home win over London Orcas. It was a closely fought, high quality match with our American imports helping to tip the balance in our favour. Abby Becker at setter by chance?

Don't know the players' names as they don't do programmes, announcing or anything. I'll ask the coach at the next home match. The team went down to their first defeat last night, 3-1 to BU Wessex, who also had Americans in their squad. If you know Abby Becker and want me to mention you to her, you could perhaps send me your name in a personal message?
