Sorry, I started this thread early in order to post these links I found on the NCAA website. I'll post more match specific links later this week.
Interview with Jonni Parker:
No. 7 Penn State vs No. 8 Nebraska: Preview, history, how to watch:
Thanks very much. Anyone should always feel free to start the Match Thread, and the earlier the better (generally speaking).

I guess the team is traveling this morning from Iowa to Nebraska and then playing tonight. Not much of a problem as long as the weather cooperates.
One good thing about living on the west coast is a 8:30pm Eastern start time means 5:30pm Pacific start time.
I don't know what to expect. I wouldn't be surprised if a Russ Rose team comes out of Lincoln with a victory. Reality tells me there is more talent on the other side of the court so coaching and motivation will be needed.

Not sure I agree about talent. I think the critical part is whether our talent will be fearless tonight. Or tentative.
One more thing: I think at least one of Gabby's SOTW awards belonged to the passers. Gosh we sure need them to be dialed in tonight, as they so often are.

I'm not sure about the talent, at least this year. Nebraska isn't serving as well as in prior years and also doesn't seem to have the leaders like they did in the past (or maybe the stud that they can go to when needed). I do think their defense is as good as in prior years. What seems to me to be the difference in most PSU vs Nebraska matches is that they either match our intensity or exceed it. For whatever reason, Nebraska tends to be sky high when playing PSU. So they will usually play their best while PSU may or may not play their best. This may be because of the PSU dominance from 2007 thru 2014 (excluding 2011).

Wonder who we'll get as announcers tonite. I listened to Kevin Barnett and Salima Rockwell as little bit recently in a Texas vs Texas Tech match. Salima is such a good color analyst. Course, she would probably do a great job doing play by play also.

Hopefully, the team will be up to play this match with full intensity, because Nebraska has owned PSU from 2015 to 2017. That stretch was really tough to bear.

Nebraska usually has really good and knowledgeable people doing their matches.
It's a primary sport for them and they invest lots of dough for a professional production. It seems like they're on BTN every week, versus being on BTN+.

Course, she would probably do a great job doing play by play also. Felt like she imparted so much knowledge on the last PSU match she covered...v. WI. I was wondering (with all the former players we hear from during coverage) why some of the things, like blocking assignment commentary, I had never heard before. Gosh she's just so good.

I'm sure so much of that is from the coach's perspective. She's been involved with so much planning etc re: volleyball. She is just so sharp and so articulate. Was SUCH an improvement over Nell, on the Texas broadcast, who is the designated homer. Tho this year, I think that Texas has a decent chance to take it all. I'm thinking that Stanford (if Plummer gets back), Texas and Wisconsin have the best shots. But who knows what will happen. Wish we could vote on our announcers.

I keep thinking that this match will depend heavily upon how efficient Tori and Lauren are; I'm assuming Cathey won't play.

Im always curious about this term, so, what’s the diff between a regular analyst/announcer and a “color analyst”?

Im always curious about this term, so, what’s the diff between a regular analyst/announcer and a “color analyst”? As far as I know, the announcer does play by play, the analyst or color analyst adds insight and knowledge, and afaik, the analyst and color analyst are the same. otoh, by my definition, there was no analyst or color analyst in the Iowa match as there was definitely no insight added.
