Ugh. Although 2/3 of the matches we played against them, historically, have been on their home turf.

Very even match and I would have never guessed that leading to this match. There is a light at end of tunnel for this season! Gotta agree with you. Pretty much my thought also. I was pretty sure that Nebraska would win and I thought it would be in 4 not 5. Obviously, being pretty sure Nebraska would win meant I didn't think it would be 15-13 Neb in the 5th. Considering how many soft blocks NEB got, and how terminal so many of their hitters were, (near the end they had 4 hitters with 12, 14, 14 and 19 kills), it almost seems that PSU did it with smoke and mirrors. That may be so, but PSU really did it with smoke, mirrors and Parker. There are lots of similarities between these two teams starting with Sophomore setters, both of whom will continue to improve. And if there are better defensive teams than these two, I would be surprised. I expect both teams will get better by the end of the year and drive even the best teams crazy with defense. That said, we continue to see non-traditional strategy from PSU with all of the hitters moving around to try to score, sometimes a two blocker only defense (when Gabby is front row) and more liberal than usual serving substitutions. Neb does not appear to need to do that.
