I find the International statistics a bit confusing. What do we thing a "Dig Error" is? Must the player touch the ball? (Example, lots of tips dropped into the hole behind the blockers. Do we assign an error to the player who was supposed to cover that play?) Is an error ascribed if the player makes what amounts to a poor pass? What if a dig goes over the net but stays in play? Does a dig error negate a kill? My research on these burning issues did not reveal clear answers and shockingly my PSU statistics prof did not mention this category at all (we did discuss standard deviations which I note does not show up in volleyball box scores). |
