Well, I for one prayed Nebraska would lose, not that I would have liked Wisconsin to win, just the lesser of two evils.

Only appropriate, on the approximate 10 year anniversary of the event, that NE would get mowed down. Who gave WI the keys?

I, basically root for 3 teams in women's college volleyball, good ole PSU, and whoever plays Nebraska and Wisconsin.

I root for the Bears and whoever plays New England and Tom Brady. It used to be I only had two favorite teams. I have a friend whose two favorite teams are the Bears and whoever plays the Packers.

I,too, consistently root against them both. But, the play during their match was super! Hey, what do you think the difference between the WISC vs NEB and WISC vs PSU was? I'm thinking that the blocking on PSU was a big difference in that WISC was getting blocked really consistently by PSU. PSU also hit considerably better against WISC than NEB did; .185 to .148. A large part of that was Hord's great play. I'm also thinking that Hord's great play allowed the PSU OH's more leeway as WISC had to keep such a close eye on her. Then again, maybe it's just matchups.
Of course, with the volleyball associative rule, PSU should have no problem with NEB in their next match

Both teams were sky high for the Wisky vs Neb match. That arena is always sold out and the match was hugely important for the B1G championship. That made for bodies flying all over the place, hard hits and fantastic digs on both sides.
The difference that gave Wisconsin the win had much to do with Smrek's play. She was 12-17 .647 against Nebraska and 5-17 .000 against Penn State. Smrek was blocked four times in the PSU match (Starck solo, Holland/Starck, Hord/Pritchard and Hord/Pritchard again)

PSU was really well prepared. This in spite of it being the 2nd game of the weekend. I didn't realize that Smrek was blocked 4 times by PSU.

Apparently this is a thing...to fire before the end of the season, but, OTOH, before signing day. But not in the power conferences. So far: W Oregon; SUNY; Robert Morris; Carlton (during first winning season); Washington and Jefferson; Long Beach State.
But not many women these days or POC in the B1G WVB [edit: head coaching] arena. Sad about that.

I think they should have dismissed University of Iowa Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair Gary Barta, on the grounds that his title is absurdly long.

LMAO. Could there have been a legal stipulation that he'd always be referred to as such?
