Well, I lack virtually all of the requisite skills, and have no volleyball experience. But I have watched alot of volleyball matches on TV. Surely that should count for something, no?

Social media has been pointing to a possible transfer. Could that be what this tweet is about?

I’m particularly interested to see how the competition to replace Jenna Hampton as Penn State’s libero goes this offseason. Maddy Bilinovic and Cassie Kuerschen are the frontrunners, in my opinion, but Quinn Menger showed some flashes and has a nice serve, and incoming freshman Mandi Morioka is an intriguing prospect. KSC said during her introductory press conference that she thinks Morioka and Alexa Markley “are going to be able to contribute.” Lexi Skripek didn’t play last season, but was a standout at nearby Bald Eagle Area High School. Perhaps Penn State will add another defensive specialist to the mix via the transfer portal, but setter is probably the bigger position of need.

I agree about setter being a position of need -- but let's be clear: that's not a comment on Rachel Muisenga. I would guess none of us have seen her play (and certainly none of us have seen her play for Penn State, because she hasn't played for Penn State). As someone pointed out, her PrepVolleyball ranking was comparable to Blossom's (30 vs. 28). But regardless of how good she turns out to be, you always need a backup, and right now, there is only one pure setter on the squad. I'm sure KSC would like another.

This is really great news for Coach Katie (aka KSC) and for Penn State. Congrats all around!

Very excited for the 2022 season!! Two great additions in Kashuana Williams and Taylor Trammell. Kashuana flys above the net and has one heck of an arm. Taylor is a blocking machine. I watched an interview with Dave Shondell on the Big Ten Network last spring. He mentioned Taylor improved tremendously during the fall of 2019, allowing her to fill in a much needed role for the spring season. Coach Shondell continued to praise Taylor stating that she has the potential to be the best middle hitter in the Big Ten one day. Furthermore, we have a solid group returning (I could say great things about all of them) and two solid freshman coming in. Alexa Markley has a whip of an arm and puts up a wall with that block of hers. In a recent recent highlight video, Mandi Morioka passes dimes in serve receive. She is wicked quick, with a nasty serve. Are we 100 percent certain that Jonni Parker is not returning next year?? (Not that I really want anyone to answer this question). If my memory serves me correct, last spring, Russ Rose was asked about the 2022 recruits/players using their extra year of Covid eligibility. He said that All-American players expressed interest in returning and we went from there. Pretty much alluding that the 2022 class would be small, as some juniors would be using their Covid eligibility. Furthermore, it has been mentioned that Parker is student teaching. I’m a teacher and completed my student teaching years ago. It’s a full time job and some. It pretty much consumed my life for 5 months. Furthermore, having my masters degree provides a nice pay bump (especially in these inflationary times). Is it possible that after the dust settles, she may decide to play a 5th year while earning her masters degree? I can only hope. I love watching Jonni play- she is one fierce competitor!! Not trying to stir the pot, take away from anyone- just some wishful thinking on my part.
Regardless, the program/team is in great hands and I’m confident that good news will continue to flow our way!

Jonni Parker is done. Out. Gone. Great person. But she's not coming back to play volleyball. Still, love your take on the upcoming season!
