I don't see why Purdue moved down. Getting beat by #6 Ohio State should not be a negative although I believe it was on Purdue's home court which might have made a difference. Hey, I don't get why PSU went down to 14 from 13. Almost beat OSU and then handily beat ILL. Course, expecting these polls to make sense is a fool's errand. Sort of like the stock market. Up and down for no particular reason.

This just goes to show that the coaches have no clue. Two weekends ago, PSU lost to OSU in 5, close match; beat ILL handily. This last weekend PSU lost to NEB with the last set being a disaster; PSU barely beat IO in 5. So what happens: the 10/10 poll sends PSU down 1 to 14; the 10/17 poll moves PSU back up to 13. Go figure; makes no sense whatsoever. Course, like we didn't know this.

However if I were to rank the teams today I wouldn't have it that much different.
Fortunately the NCAA selection committee pays no attention to the AVCA poll.

Explanation for this week: BYU loss to Pacific. BYU fell 5 spots, others moved up. Pretty simple this week IMO. And, of course, it's a crowd-sourced thing...64 (or less) votes for >25 teams.

That makes perfect sense. But it does show that the voters look at won/loss records, not how a team won or lost. Cuz if anybody had looked at the PSU weekend, I could see PSU dropping 5 places. Granted, the voters don't have the time to look at things carefully. But not only that, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Sometimes you move up because you had a good week... Sometimes you move up because someone else had a worse week.

VT has an interesting thread -- Fall 2022 Bracketology -- volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/91401/fall-2022-bracketology-10-17?page=1 -- which currently has eight B1G teams making the 2022 NCAA Tournament. It places all 64 teams into brackets, and seeds 32 of them. If Penn State can go 7-5 (or better) the rest of the way (which would give them a 22-9 record (11-9 in the B1G) they'll be in very good shape. Even at 6-6 the rest of the way (21-10, 10-10 in the B1G), they're probably in the Tournament. Anything less than that, who knows. Here are the B1G teams, their hypothetical Regional brackets, and their seeds (all as of 10-17-2022): Austin Regional(6) Purdue (2) Wisconsin San Diego Regional(2) Ohio State Lincoln Regional(1) Nebraska Northwestern (7) Penn State Louisville Regional(3) Minnesota (7) Michigan
