... And thank goodness Starck was ready to contribute from the front! Starck is a real team player. You see no pouting or anger at her being replaced by Markley. I'm impressed by how she's handled the whole situation. And she's done a good job playing the back row.

I don't think so. She was standing in the huddle near the end of the 4th set.

I don't think so. She was standing in the huddle near the end of the 4th set. It's a long season for a freshman. Probably a good idea to give Markley some rest and take some of the pressure off of her. Assuming that she's not hurt of course.

That second set was so demoralizing that I don't think many teams would have been able to come back. TBH, I didn't think we would win after that set... Glad our team is resilient and I am wrong. And thank goodness Starck was ready to contribute from the front! Penn State swept the three sets when they played that game called "volleyball." They lost the one set when they decided to play some other game. But it's a big B1G road win. Now, back to Rec Hall to close things out in the regular season.

It's nice to see the PSU ladies do what they needed to do on the road. The road hasn't been that friendly to them so it's nice that they were able to take care of business in a difficult situation.

Now, back to Rec Hall to close things out in the regular season. Funny. That reminds me of a RR witticism when one of his teams was playing very poorly, and he said in the huddle, "You can start playing any time now." I will miss all of wonderful RR quips and witticism. Such a great sense of humor, if a bit acerbic.

Second set was scarrrrryyyy!! Not saying they didn't come in taking NW seriously, but seemed like they thought it would be an easy sweep. Can't think like that this late into the season especially against an underdog team who took a top 5 team to 5 sets. This was definitely an odd one, energy seemed flat almost like they were halfway out the door thinking about the next match. Here's to hoping they come out on fire with lots of energy against Purdue because I'm sure they are coming for revenge.

Northwestern scored 20 consecutive points on Penn State -- from down 7-9 in the 2nd set, then 18 straight points to take the set 25-9. Then the first 2 points of the 3rd set. 20 straight points. That has to be a record (bad kind of record) for consecutive points against Penn State. But . . . . they won the match. On the road. Against a very underrated Northwestern team. As a friend texted me, it was kind of a trap match. But they got through it. 23-7!

Don't know. Maybe, as she only played 2 sets. Could be that KSC gave her some rest as she was doing poorly in the 2 sets she played in; she was 1-1-15 for a .000 hitting percentage. Stark was 5-2-22 for a .136 hitting percentage. Starck not a bunch better, but some better. I don't think Alexa was hurt. Kudrashova was subbed in at 9-16 during the second set debacle. After that Katie just went with Anjelina as a six rotation player. I just think that there was no benefit to playing Alexa when she was clearly having an off night. Better to save some substitutions in case things went into overtime. On the other hand, Cash was also pretty awful in the first two sets and she managed to turn it around.

Yeah, PSU couldn't buy a kill in the 2nd set. It boggles the mind. One would think that, if nothing else, NW would make an error.

I was worried about this match. I knew that NW has played some quite good matches and beat some pretty good teams.
