How do you overrule that? Those camera speeds and resolutions are horrible.

Well, I see a silver lining. PSU not giving up. What a rally.

I probably know less about volleyball than any other posters here (though not on Volleytalk), so I thought twice about posting this comment, but decided, why not?
This can't possibly be the seventh best volleyball team in Div 1. When there is a coaching vacancy at PSU (and I hope there is not one for a long time), Heather Pavlik ought to get some consideration. All of the current staff, including those responsible for recruiting, share the responsibility for this disappointing season and underachieving team.

Five losses, losing to the #4-ranked team in the country, coming off a NCAA championship with the same staff, and you're going to jettison all of them? Please tell me your name isn't Sandy. Or, put another way, let's not over react

Most of that match was...not good. PSU made way too many mistakes. I, however, absolutely adored what I saw most of the third set. The energy was certainly there. Every set needs to be like that from now on. Just not sure if the ladies have enough gas in the tank. Reed over Lee is interesting. We'll see if that sticks. Nice to see Holcomb come into the game & provide some energy as well. Am also loving how Rivera has blossomed. Other than that, not much good to say.

This was very disappointing, but there is potential

I'm sure a lot of fans are disappointed; however, it had to be expected to some degree. You have a new setter and libero, which are arguably the most important positions (1st and 2nd touches on every serve-receive), you're going to have growing pains. Not sure about the coaches, but you can't throw all the blame on the players only; I mean everyone should take some blame for poor play, .

Goldengoal may wish to rethink his POV. There are clearly team synergy issues that we have seen most of the season. The loss of a great setter and great libero have had a major effect and developing comparable successors often takes more than a year. This year's performance is not an indication that the coaches are no longer effective and should be replaced. I seriously doubt that Pavlik or any other coach would have produced a better result. There is fine talent on many of the top 10 teams and we must acknowledge that fact and understand that the incredible results from the last 8 years are unlikely to be continued. There are more championships likely to be won by PSU in future but they won't come as frequently.

The surprising part is that the growing pains are coming so late...they are playing their worst volleyball at the end. It's not that they lost at Minny and Nebraska, it's that they got swept and were never in a position to take a set. They were behind the entire time in both of those matches. Just...odd. Frustrating. And jarring considering what we've been used to.

Winning at the Taj Mahal was always going to be a tough ask. There is so much energy in that building, but I noticed that Nebraska and all teams have weaknesses this year, it's not just PSU. It'll be interesting to see who can string together 6 wins in the tourney to win the NC. As for PSU, they played much better in the 3rd, but the road to the NC runs through Omaha this year, so gotta play better in all sets to win in this environment. I don't expect much this year, to be honest. Although, I liked seeing them battle it out and not give up. There's a lot to say about that mentality.

However, the opponents were not playing that well and PSU was able to take advantage. As other teams got better over the season, PSU has stayed about the same, maybe with a slight drop off. You gotta keep improving as the season rolls on. That was definitely a trait last year's team had, which is missing this year.

I'm not quite sure how to imbed my reply to nyline's reply on my comment, so I'll just reply here:
"Jettisoning" the entire staff? Sorry, did I write that? No. However, there seems to be a succession plan in place for the head coaching position and I am simply expressing my opinion that when that time comes it might be beneficial to look outside the insulated PSU family. And if Sandy doesn't feel that way, then she might be as effective an AD as Dr. Dave was.
