Nebraska was at home, on senior night, and had it going on.
We could not sustain any kind of push until game 3.
Passing was not great but there was stages where it was good and PSU could not get the ball on the floor.
The blocking was not good at all and couldn't close them.
Having to rely on solo blocks is not where we want to be and Nebraska saw the tape of the Minnesota match where this was evident

I'm not quite sure how to imbed my reply to nyline's reply on my comment, so I'll just reply here: "Jettisoning" the entire staff? Sorry, did I write that? No. However, there seems to be a succession plan in place for the head coaching position and I am simply expressing my opinion that when that time comes it might be beneficial to look outside the insulated PSU family. And if Sandy doesn't feel that way, then she might be as effective an AD as Dr. Dave was. You hit the "Quote" button in order to include another posters text in a reply. Hopefully that discussion won't need to take place for another 10 years.

I mean, everyone was digging well for NE tonight. We'll see if they can survive their bracket to make it to Omaha for the Final Four. My guess is that they'll choke. Just saying. What's your guess for PSU's seeding now? Anyone?

Well it also doesn't help if the eam can't dig free balls or Courtney tipping quite often!

The apparent successor has a very compelling record, success at other schools, including her stint at Texas in which she recruited very good players and they won an NCAA championship. Have a look at the Post-Gazette story on Selina and read Courtney's comments.
The 2015 team has not developed as we had all hoped. This is great talent but the team has not gelled as past championship teams have. Not a problem unique to Penn State W-VB. It's on the players and the coaches together to solve. I would expect open competition at every position for next year.

I'll guess a 9 seed.

Not sure what you mean by "insulated PSU family" -- Stevie Mussie is from Washington, and Salima spent several years at Texas (during one of which she was named the Assistant Coach of the Year") and none of the grad assistants have Penn State connections.

Indeed. My initial post stated that I hoped there would not be a coaching vacancy for a long time, but that seemed to be overlooked.

Let's face it. PSU brought the best out in Minnesota and Nebraska. That being said.
The SLATE is clean and the way this year went with no team being dominant there is no reason to believe this season is going to end sooner than any other team in the country.
PSU will have to certainly play better and we know they can. They will start off at home and it is our job to make sure they get some momentum going to carry on !
The season is over and the previous wins and losses at this point won't matter any more.

I simply think that taken as a whole, your sentiment -- to which you certainly are entitled and glad you are sharing it on this forum -- is an overreaction to what is a disappointing loss.

I'm not sure this team has what it takes to win it all again. Too much inconsistency. Losing to a Northwestern team shouldn't have happened and getting beat by Michigan at Rec Hall is unacceptable. It's also concerning that this team didn't even really challenge Nebraska tonight and Minnesota a few weeks ago.
Getting past the 3rd round is going to be a problem.

It is indeed disappointing and perplexing that these talented players are not able to be effective against top teams this late in the season. Not winning a set vs both Minn and Nebr is hard to watch for us loyalists. The top teams in the B10 improved, PSU did not. It will not end happily in the tournament.
There is a lot of talent, more arriving next year. They will have to play at their best individually and collaboratively to beat Minn, Nebr and Wisc, as well as the best of the PAC 10.

Just a couple of observations -
That was a shellacking administered by Nebraska (they now have taken six straight sets from PSU)
Nebraska passed exceptionally well on serve receive - PSU did not.
While it likely didn't change the final result in the third set, the overrule on the replay of Kendall's dig was absurd!
All of the top teams are beatable so picking the eventual national champ is a phishtrix shoot.
This PSU team has parallels (young strong hitters, freshman setter, passing issues) to the 2011 team that exited in the round of 8.
