Yep, more tape around the ankle and back in. Can anyone (with a press pass - you know who you are ) find out if Courtney is OK? If she cannot jump as some have alluded to (because she may have re-injured her ankle), then I would, without any hesitation, convert her to libero for the remainder of the tourney. She's the best passer/digger we have. Penn State doesn't talk about injuries -- nor should they, in my opinion. FWIW, she looked OK to me, and I was on the first row (it was general admission). Not in any obvious distress and didn't appear to be gimpy.

Courtney spun in celebration of a Washington kill (making it 6-3) and landed awkwardly on her left foot. She had injured her right ankle badly back in October, so luckily it wasn't the same one.

Anyone else impressed with Wilma in her limited action? I just love her poise for a such a young player. She had a few nice digs again tonight. Yes, definitely. Actually the last couple matches she impressed me. She's gotten much better at defense since the beginning of the season. Coach says she was better than Weiskircher at defense in the preseason. I think her confidence with the team has grown and we're gonna need it. She has a bright future on this team. Was she the libero for a game or two at the beginning of the season?

Her touch on the ball has been excellent and has made some very athletic plays of late. Biggest thing is that she and Kendall are really playing and communicating very well together.

Whew. Great thing abut missing the game--not watching set 2 in real time. It wasn't pretty!! i was there and looked at PSU faces as they returned to the locker room after set 2. did not see worry; did not see fear. They were not falling apart IMO. they figured out something towards the end of set 2, just as the Flyers had figured out something at the beginning. PSU brought that confidence back with them, and you saw the result. Hard for fans to watch, maybe, but i think our girls knew they had it under control. As for Courtney's offense, that's when BK starting using other setting options, especially middle, to great effect. Yay!! for Thelen. She hit .875. I saw Rose telling her (if i read his lips right) to GO OUT THERE AND BLOCK. she posted only one block, but the Flyers weren't prepared for her offense. And when Ali Frantti has a good game, it seems EVERYBODY has a good game!! I think that our pin hitters have had such a high profile that everybody prepares for them. My biggest surprise was that Dayton was NOT prepared for Courtney in set 1 and got rolled by Frantti. BTW, Caraway has torn her miniscus (sp?), had surgery; out for career.

Rivera warms up as a setter, not as a DS. Although she played in all 4 sets, i thought i saw her in less as the match wore on. We had at least one more RS cluster ** (set 3?) where 3 players within arm's reach of each other could not control a ball; Wilma's been effective in resolving these, and she wasn't in then.

It's encouraging to hear things like this. I was really happy to see Thelen make the offensive contributions--perhaps a breakout moment for her. Maybe her performance and role in the coming games will match Katie Slay's role in the 2010 Tournament.
I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing Caraway a speedy recovery and offering her thanks for her service.

He said he was thrilled with the team's performance, set 2 excepted.

Oh, okay! I missed the first match. Made the second and sat by a gentleman who told me that. I got it confused.

Did anyone see Russ turn to the boisterous Dayton fans at the end of the match? He said something to them. LOL!
