Abby Cole will a handful. You won't stop a player like that but slowing her down will be key.
I really hope we serve like we did last night. Broerman and especially Holcomb was a pleasant surprise in that area.
Pierce,Washington and Detering were good as usual. Need some more from White in this area(she was very good everywhere else)
We kept MSU limited to 1 and 2 options most of the night. If we can do that, it will take Cole out of the match just enough.

Good serving night? If I am not mistaken we had 9 service errors. what surprises me is that those errors came from servers whose serves are not that overpowering at least not when I have seen them serving. Serving is a habit and when they fail in practice then they must adjust perhaps as simple as moving back a step. How long have these players been playing the game so that they have probably served 5000 times?

MISSING: KNOPNot sure how many enjoyed as much as i did watching 5'8" Caroline Knop play OH for Michi last 2 years. She was effective (led team in attacks, second in kills), and I loved the Rosens for giving a shorty with a jump a chance to play front row. She was definitely an iconoclast...proven by her unique headband that made her look like an 80's tennis player. Well, she's playing for Mary Wise now, not the Rosens. Appears to be the L. ? Anybody have info about the transfer? This will certainly change the UM look tonight.

True, there were only 2 service aces with 9 service errors. BUT, a large number of the serves had MSU out of system for a considerable part of the night. Unfortunately, it's impossible to figure out how good a team's serve receive from the stats. It would be interesting to see how MSU's serve receive was graded for last night's match.

That's consistent with what Talking Head said in the Post-Michigan State Q&A on DigNittany (posted on separate thread on this forum).

All the players who are supposed to... are indeed playing well tonight: Lee, Frantti, Washington, Thelen, Gorrell.
Nice to see PSU staying ahead in this game.

PSU leading 18-14; nice kill by Detering.
Gorrell is the least efficient of the hitters at .300 (not too shabby).

I'm satisfied with the thought of PSU grinding out this win. Shows some heart.
PSU up 20-16 in the 2nd set; T.O. Michigan. PSU Hitting % = .500 MI Hitting % = .250

And... PSU pulling away late in set 2, which is always beautiful to see.
PSU wins set 2 by a score of 25-19; gets set point with a block!!
The 10 minute break between the 2nd and 3rd is always a bear.

And.... PSU coming out strongly again in the 3rd.
I really like how this team is coming together as the season progresses.
I don't mind if they lose to Minny in their next match as long as they play them tough.
