The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Always liked you, Minnie. I like a few Wisconsin fans I know, but I really don't like Sheffield (I question his transfer culture) and, without any real evidence, I don't like Carlini (other than with respect to her talent, which of course, is huge)

Wisconsin has to win at least a set, can lose all 3 at home and be called a contender.

If PSU does well this weekend, have to think Minn's sweep of a #1 will help PSU in the rankings. What a block party that was for the Gophers.

Lauren tries the slam, is stuffed. Ah, let me rewind and watch that one again, and again. and... Is there a reason for the Carlini hate on this board? I'm in the same boat. I can't seem to muster up some "like" for her either. Not sure why.

I can't seem to muster up some "like" for her either. Not sure why. For me, it's visceral. Something about her rubs me the wrong way. It may be prejudice, or it may be accurate, Gladwellian thin slicing.

I guess i'll also go with the visceral. and then there was the famous opening game with the first ever TV special on WVB. They show Courtney and Pierce doing their work with exercising senior citizens and seriously interacting with them. The only tape the independent and unbiased film crew could generate on Carlini was self-absorbed, IMHO. All about her dreams of being in the Olympics, and cringe-worthy antics in her apartment. For me, it crystalized the whole thing about our love for many of the PSU WVB student-athletes: a fierce dedication to team, but also to bigger, community-based things. Whether it's stories of Harmotto buying donuts for her Sunday school class, or our girls dancing and doing gymnastics (? Courtney? really??) in THON, they represent an interest in much more than self.
Guilty as charged.

She hates PSU, especially Micha and she never beat PSU in her life so there is that.

On Sep 23, 2015, Wisconsin lost to PSU 3-0, Carlini said "they will never lose 3-0 again", wonder what she said to her team last night?

I can't seem to muster up some "like" for her either. Not sure why. I can only speak for myself. I dislike her not because of anything about her but about the way the Big Ten favored her over Hancock. Even when Hancock was winning championships and outplaying her by a significant margin in head-to-head matchups, we had to put up with the B1G TV commentators giving Hancock absolutely no respect and Carlini voted player of the year and setter of the year. The Wisky fans were insufferable -- incessantly calling for her to be the national team setter by her sophomore year in college. None of that is her fault really. She's just a tough hard-working lunch bucket player trying to be the best setter she can be. And maybe if she can stay healthy she will be the national team setter someday. I just resented the endless claim that she was some singular talent at setter. She's a wonderful setter and leader but Hancock's setting and leadership was even more wonderful her last two years and every time PSU and Wisconsin played, you saw it. Today there are several amazing setters in the B1G and we can appreciate them all -- not least Detering who has just burst on the scene.
