Like many of you, I have no "personal" animus towards Carlini. What upsets me, as it did most of you, is the shabby treatment Micha received from the Big 10, announcers, and our good friends on Volleytalk. In terms of head-to-head competition over the two years their careers overlapped, there's no contest as to who's better. This past summer's Pan Am games only provided more evidence over who's better. If you're relatively new to PSU volleyball lore, go back on PSUMAUI's site (SFCPLDC) and checkout the 2014 regular season match between PSU and Wisconsin. I hope there's something about Minnesota's performance against Carlini that PSU can duplicate. It was almost sad listening to Liz Tortorello-Nelson explain her difficulties. We can hope, the practice will make it easier for her to explain Carlini's "difficulties to come" against PSU. Any time I felt Micha got no respect, it all went away when I saw plays like this. We all know who the best all around setter for the BIG 10 was then and that is good enough for me! As far as Penn State duplicating Minnesota's performance against Wisconsin, I think that Detering will follow in Micha's footsteps as far as getting Kills against Carlini and others in their upcoming Match. I think she has averaged 4.4 kills in her last 5 matches which includes MN.

Been following the matches but haven't been able to watch any of the BTN TV matches yet because I don't have address yet. Hopefully soon For those that haven't seen the entire 2014 Penn State vs Wisconsin match you can watch it on Video Jukebox. Here it is to make it easier for you! Enjoy! NOTE: This includes the volleyball portion of the "BIG 10 Women's Show" at beginning of video and Liz and Sam Tortorello in between sets 1 and 2.

As mentioned elsewhere, Liz Tortorello Nelson (sorry for the spelling) picked her power teams in the BIG. Of the top 5, Wiskey was not to be found. She believes WI is failing to come together, although she hopes for improvement. Shocking IMO to see MSU up there and no Wi.

Not only has Carlini never beaten Penn State she hasn't won a set off Penn State in regular season matches! The way they are playing now, I don't see her team winning a set next week!

The way I see this team playing now, I think PSU can beat the Badgers in Wisconsin, but will probably lose to the Gophers in Minnesota. If we can beat the Wolverines in Michigan and the Huskers in Rec Hall, we will be in really good shape. Of course, those are the words of an overly optimistic fan!

Minnesota was stressed by Iowa.

I don't think this is overly optimistic at all. Minnesota match is a "scheduled loss" of sorts, but there's no reason to not believe this team has a decent chance of winning 3 of their next 4.

Look at the tape of the Gophers at IA last night. I'm sure our coaches will. Was way too close for a nationally top 5 team.
Of course it also means IA has the capacity to be tougher than anytime in the last 20-25 years.

Of course it also means IA has the capacity to be tougher than anytime in the last 20-25 years. I personally think the Gophers should not have gone 5 with Iowa. You got to put teams like Iowa away early if you are a national contender. However, one Gopher fan was complaining that MN had a really tough road stretch. Playing in their 6th of 7 road matches, and still have 1 more against NE on Sunday. That would be 7 out of 8 matches on the road. Although a tough schedule, I didn't think that was abnormal for the B1G. PSU is just beginning a portion of their schedule with 8 out of 11 matches on the road. I thought Iowa might be forming into a tough opponent. However, looking at their schedule, their only quality win is against a reeling Purdue. They've been beaten by both Michigans and Ohio State.
