Thelen seems to be the most improved player from last year. Maybe PSU has found the right side attacker? She seems to be strong on the court physically and mentally all the time. Thelen should be in the running for player of the week, and maybe all American.

I like Liz and Mike announcing Liz doesn't like Penn State. I think she has sibling issues with the good Tortorello. I dunno. I've detected a lot more animus toward PSU by Audrey Faull. But i understand the sibling rivalry angle.

Now, i see increased arm speed and, in place of tentativeness, touch. Last year, she seemed a bit off at RS. This year, just put me in the front row! And she's digging a bunch, which is also new. Seems to have developed much better sense of what's going on on the court, where the ball is. I cannot imagine us this year without her terrific play, and so happy that Coach had faith that she would get there. As for AA and PoW....from your lips to God's ear!!

Back when Karch was commentating the championships and knew everything about Akinadrewo from her goggle size to her siblings...but not the names of Faucett and Harmotto...I knew that PSU was not a media favorite. Continued to see it w/Flaugh and Tortorello, although Flaugh also throws shade at non-setter/non-starters and whomever she seems to feel is beneath her. I cannot help but think that the PSU terrific fan base -- fervent and well-schooled in WVB -- gives them a reason to bend much farther over than backwards to make things seem balanced for the underdogs. Here's an idea that many in DC used to do: turn on the radio (during football games, for Sonny Jurgensen, Frank Herzog, and Sam Huff) and watch the silent TV. I think the PSU radio would be superior, and less irritating!!

Great win...happy to get out of Holloway with a win, and this was a great win. Let's take care of Indiana tomorrow...and have Wisconsin beat Minnesota in an exhausting five sets :-) Never seen such an unhappy looking bunch than the Indiana squad tonight. AND THEY WON!! Beerman had a look on her face for most of the match that seemed far from confident. I actually was impressed by the demeanor and team spirit of Rutgers. Shocking to see. Hope PSU goes in and reminds themselves and everybody else just how much fun this is.

The whole show was a promotion for some damn Nebraska fundraising thing and Flaugh was all over it. The third and fourth set featured some questionable calls punctuated by Cook's whining and Flaugh was giving Nebraska the benefit of the doubt. In contrast, I thought Tortorello was much more evenhanded in the PSU - Wisconsin game that opened the 2014 B1G season. Karch in 2007? Is it really a surprise he knew Stanford better? He's done pretty well announcing PSU games since. I was in the DC area from '76 through '05--I know the Sonny, Frank, and Sam thing. My favorite memory of the DC sports scene was George Michaels' Redskin Report with (as John Riggins put it) The Homer (Jurgensen), the Domer (Michael Wilbon), and the Gomer (Michaels). That was a fun show.

Another great game for everyone. I really liked the way Kendall was digging. Purdue brought their "A" game but it wasn't enough. I picked us to win in 4 sets because I figured Purdue would get lucky in one set but we finished very strong. no That wasnt close to Purdues A game. C+ When a team runs into a buzz saw it makes them look bad even when they are playing pretty good. Did you see Purdue's match with Minnesota? If so, how did that compare with tonight?

She credited White repeatedly, called Haleigh Washington "automatic" talked repeatedly about how versatile Thelen is, explained aspects of the 6/2, expressed positive astonishment that coach was employing it this far into the season, excused reception errors by Lee and Frantti, and asked Frannti some great questions in the post match interview. Really, she was almost fawning.

Liz TOTORELLO WAS a very skilled player in her time when the game was a lot different than now. I doubt that she is jealous of her sister

KILLS Frantti 15 Thelen 14 Lee 13 Wash 10 Assists: Detering: 34 WeisK 20 This is the first time i've seen such a disparity in assists. Haven't watched yet...any reason for Detering having more? The write-up calls White a 'mastermind' and gives her credit for all sorts of things...very unusual. I think Coach was sending her a message after the MSt match last week...two really good matches after that for her. I think the use of the word "mastermind" was poetic license. The alternative is falling back on cliches (I have been known to say "cliches are our friends.")

Thelen should be in the running for player of the week, and maybe all American. She certainly has improved alot. All-American may be a stretch -- there are alot of great RSs out there. But her stats certainly are very good.

That's because she doesn't like that you keep calling her Audrey Faull, when her name is Audrey Flaugh Actually, I'm in the minority about her -- I like her. I don't think she dislikes Penn State at all. She was over-the-moon about Micha Hancock and Deja McClendon.

Great adjustment in set 2 to Purdue's change in strategy for the match. Overall, great win! Love, once again, seeing the smooth flow of the play from the team. You can see the plays developing on each play and the communications was excellent in today's match. It was like watching a choreographed dance!
