RE: tonight's matchup. For comparison, Rutgers scored 42 points v Minnesota last night; on the road in Rec Hall, RU managed only 23. v Minnesota, RU hit .320 in set 1. I attribute most of that to lack of preparation for RU... all season, teams have had the luxury of devoting their entire preparation week to PSU, not RU. Even unprepared, B1G teams are blowing RU out of the water, as expected.

But the statement by Millennium was "I want to hear what the gopher fans on VT are saying. Do they have as much confidence in beating PSU as the badger fans?" So, I'm sticking with the fans' poll results, as being more reflective of Gopher fans than the Pick the Winners "poll," which is reflective of less emotion (and perhaps/one hopes/I believe) more fact-based analysis. There you go, reading the question again. And while I'm at it, mom always liked you more. Yes, she did, Tommy. 😎

I want to hear what the gopher fans on VT are saying. Do they have as much confidence in beating PSU as the badger fans? Statistically speaking the gophers don't make many errors, but they lack the firepower to beat us. Also, we need to continue serving tough, because Minny likes to run a fast offense, which is tough to defend. Currently, the VT voters are 25-13 for a Minnesota win. I now see the poll is 29-22 in Minny's favor, so we've got some movement going PSU's way. Polls are weird, because many fans jump on to a thread and vote but don't write anything. I'm curious, however, if any of the gopher fans are actually writing it down. Here's the only thing I found: I have yet to hear and actual Gopher fan claim that there is anything, statistically or otherwise, that gives Minnesota an advantage over Penn State. IMO, for the Gophers to win, they need to play better than their average and force Penn State to play worse than their's. It will be fun to watch and see if they are able to do that.

How apt. I was going to say yesterday that if we play only our average, and they do too, I'll be fine. It appears that applies to all B1G comers.

It's trendy to pick the underdog (statistically worse average than their opponent).

It's getting late and the natives are getting restless.
Gametracker has the following starters, LOL!!
MINN starters: Martin, Jasmyn; Barnes, Lauren; Nielsen, Sara; Kleinman, Sydney; Goehner, Alyssa; Beal, Maddie; libero Zeimann, Alice.
PSU starters: Cather, Kathryn; Sciorra,Emily; White,Kendall; Frantti,Ali; Reed,Nia; Detering,Abby; libero Pierce,Lainy.
Also, according to GT, Minny is up 1-0. What's up with that?
