Well good old Nebraska won the championship. Now I feel really depressed. I'm with you. Seems like Thursday night was basically the match for the national championship, and we had a match point.

I think we might as well get use to a Nebraska Dynasty not only based on what they did this year but also based on the tremendous talent they bring in every single year. You simply cannot dominate without elite pin hitters and Nebraska , Florida, and Texas bring in more than they can even use. Now Louisville is on its way to becoming a top five team. If you cannot recruit the best, you cannot be the best. Hopefully we can bring in at least one elite pin hitter transfer.

You have to admire the great setter play from Nebraska. If we had a setter like that the girls would be getting a ring.

"THERE IS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND THAT NEBRASKA WAS THE BEST OF THIS YEARS FOURSOME EVEN WHEN PSU WAS GENEROUS ERROR BOUND."
This seems an odd conclusion given that PSU was one trip away from beating them. There is a pretty good argument that Penn State and Nebraska were a level above Stanford and Florida but certainly these were the best four teams in the country this year. What is inargruable is that Nebraska is the national champion for 2017.
As to Penn State's outlook for next year, there will certainly be a significant drop off from this year. A finish somewhere in the middle of the B1G standings would be my prediction. While the incoming freshman class is impressive, there is not a core of seasoned returning players as there was in 2014.

I really doubt Coach Rose retires before the 2021, if then. I think this 2018 class has the chance to be special. RR is not leaving when the cupboard is bare! interesting. you two just said the opposite thing. guess he'll never leave

TRIP?? What are you taking about? I made no reference to a trip I simply saying that with all the errors PSU made they came close to winning nonetheless. 14 service e errors is hard to overcome when your opponent is so complete with their floor game.

While difficult to accept that twice in as many seasons PSU was one point from advancing, must stop and recognize the body of work. The 33-2 is significant by any team in any conference!
Now to reassemble the returnees, new recruits, and transfers (?) to return to B1G conference title competitive form. Looks like a good group of athletes. A couple played well in the Under Armour HS All-American match. Already demonstrated some team connectedness, bond, at their visit a couple months ago. Those are positive signs.

About POY:
And there's a tourney team named. e.g., Courtney was named MVP of tourney in 14. UWA's VanSant was named AVCA POY in ?13? and UWA did not make it to the final 4 (or was it final 2?). They are looking at the season as a whole, not how the end came. NCAA and AVCA: 2 different things.

Will Dennis Hoenshelt remain with the team? He’s a volunteer assistant now. There are several new coaching positions open so the dominoes will begin to fall. But his wife just began as Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach, right?

I think that's right, and kids want to be settled, too. I didn't see any live matches; my observation from TV was that he was very active and (maybe more so later in the season) effective in directing our offense. Is it only a coincidence how well we did with him here?
There are so many hidden ways, i'm assuming, to create revenue streams (camps and clubs among them) that I suspect the family can make a living at PSU.

Simone Lee was named to the NCAA’s All-Tournament team. Surprisingly, Kathryn Plummer of Stanford, this year’s NPOY was not All-Tournament. (?)

He had a HC shot at Virginia and wasn't able to recruit the necessary talent to win there. I don't imagine there are a lot of programs knocking down his door to hire him right now.

I share a concern about Nebraska moving forward, especially with the change to regionals being hosted by top seeds. Tough for anyone to get by them in Devaney (see: 2016 PSU).
