Well we learned that we can sweep a good team while hitting .236. This group will win with defense,
It's definitely too early to say, but as a fan I can speculate... could we be like Nebraska of 2017, who was known for winning with a good defensive team?

To me the defense stands out like a huge orange sign. Can’t miss it in my opinion. I do see what I missed before that leaths offense may not stand out glaring but she has great defense that I never knew before
Also, her offense could start kicking into high gear as the season wears on. He connection with the setters will improve over time.

I do see what I missed before that leaths offense may not stand out glaring but she has great defense that I never knew before The defense includes good blocking. We have a smart libero, and a super quick DS with Hampton. So opponents' hitting pct (even Stanford's) have been impressively low. I think we will scramble our way to most of our wins this year. Out of system all the way.
Yes. This comment is so true!! Maybe the days of needing to hit .350 (as a team over the season) to win championships is over?!!

Regarding the "best team forward" how do you define that? Your opinion about what is the best team would be based on what? Russ's opinion about who he wants on the floor to "WIN" that is his objective And the record shows he knows what he is doing
You are replying to this post (I assume): Penn State looking ok. Oregon not playing as well as they did against Minnesota. This year is looking more and more like tossup for who the best team is. I think Coach Rose has an obligation to PSU fans and the University to put the best team forward in conference and in the NCAA tournament. Playing favorites for whatever reason is unacceptable.
Sorry that was my mistake. I made a misleading comment earlier in the thread about coach being "loyal" to his seniors, more specifically by playing Byranna over Gabby.
pennstate1973 was responding (above) to my comment; however, I was not clear with what I meant and so responded with this comment:
For what it's worth, I didn't mean to suggest that coach plays favorites, I meant to say that he cares for his seniors and gives them ample opportunities to play. Apologies for misleading some fans.

So this is a tiny bit like a quarterback controversy. I am excited to see what Ms. Blossom can do too, but at the moment, the team plays a lot better with Weiskercher. I don't think anyone would rather lose matches or sets to get a younger player experience,
Agreed 100%.
At least not until next year. Gabby is special and I hope she gets the chance to prove it.

If you were, please quote me directly and make yourself clear about who it is your comment pertains to.
My comment had zero to do with how I define the best team. It had to do with what Coach Rose believes is the best team and him putting that team on the court in conference and particularly in the NCAA tournament.

Your suggesting that the put the best team in to play suggests you question what he had done. If that is not your intention then I have not interpreted correctly.

I'm not questioning anything coach Rose has done. I was responding to another fan's comment. I will leave it go at that and move on.

Too lazy to look up when the last time was a PSU L average 6 digs/set (not counting this season).
Not only an indication of White's strength but also a different team dynamic. I suspect as our cubs grow (esp. at the net) White's numbers might decline a bit...I think there's an inverse relationship there. But thank goodness for White while we're where we are in this season!!

Yes, sir. And don't forget Hampton, she's been pretty solid in the back row with a few highlight digs of her own.
