Hoping someone will be able to help me.....I will be ticking something off my bucket list on Friday 13th September when I fly from England to JFK and then drive to Penn State to experience live, the incredible atmosphere at a college volleyball game that up to now, I've only seen on a TV screen via ESPN UK.
My flight lands at 1.20pm and then I've got to pick up my rental car, so there's no chance of getting to the Rec Hall for the Minnesota v Oregon game at 6pm; and anyway I don't want to be rushing when it's the first time I've driven on the 'wrong' side of the road! My aim is to get to Penn State for about 7.30, pick up my ticket from Will Call and then enjoy the build up to Penn v Stanford.
My problem is where to park as I'm told the Nittany Parking Deck will almost certainly be full at 7.30 Can anyone offer any help or advice? The Rec Hall staff haven't been able to help even though they've been great in all other queries I've had.
Look forward to lots of replies!! David

You could check-in and, in many cases, simply walk to Rec Hall or, in the alternative, take a Lyft or Uber.

David When I saw "UKfan" I was thinking, "Interesting that a Kentucky (UK) fan would join our site." But you're from "that" UK. Wow! I'm almost misty-eyed when I think of how excited you must be. I have yet to see a game at Rec Hall. I did get to see PSU play Stanford and Colorado in Boulder, Colorado back in 2016. But enough about me. I'll make this short, 'cause I haven't a clue about what you have to do to park at Rec Hall. I would love to hear about how you became a PSU volleyball fan. The bug bit me back in 2010, but most on the site have been fans for years. I think you'll find this to be a very friendly site. Welcome David! It's great to have you aboard.

It is normally free and can find a spot or two by 730p during game night. Otherwise, park at your hotel and use Uber or Lyft.

nyline - I'm staying in Huntingdon as everywhere in State College was ridiculously expensive and I've spent enough already! If I can't fix up some parking then I'll have to go to the motel first and then get a taxi to the gameand book a return for midnight.
nu2vball - I am very very excited about my trip and it's frustrating that the only thing I can't get organised is somewhere to park!! I'm very worried that I can't find anywhere to park and then I'll go to the motel and can't get a taxi which would mean missing the PSU v Stanford game. That would destroy me after travelling such a long way, although I'd still have the Saturday games. I'm not a Penn State fan as such; more of a NCAA Volleyball fan. There are several teams which I loved watching on ESPN last year and Penn State was one of them. Kendall White is a legend!
everyone - there must be somebody out there who can help....any piece of advice or suggestions would be massively appreciated.

Red Lot A by the white golf course on White Course Drive should be available. It is across the street from South Gym and Rec Hall.

If there is no space in the Nittany Parking Deck, then I second the recommendation of Red Lot A. It’s an easy walk to Rec Hall, which is located right across North Atherton St. The home football game, which is the cause for the spike in hotel rates, is not until Saturday, the day after the Stanford match, so parking should not be as bad on Friday evening as it certainly will be on Saturday.

Here's a link to Google Maps directions from Red Lot A walking to Rec Hall: Directions from Red Lot A to Rec Hall I think it should take about 6 minutes walking. If I've got the wrong link, somebody correct me!

Thanks rleed51, yogi and nyline - this is just the info I wanted. I will try the Nittany Deck first and if that's full, I'll head for White Course Drive. I've had a look on Google maps and it looks very easy to get to. Do I pay at the kiosk at the entrance to WCD or are there machines after you've found a space? Also what is the payment amount and does it accept cards?

There is a parking attendant booth but it will most likely be unattended after hours so your parking should be free. If not, it should cost $5 if memory serves. I will unfortunately miss the matches that weekend but enjoy and please do share your first women’s volleyball experience at Rec Hall!

Actually parking in Red A is free for those attending volleyball matches, even on football weekends. If there is an attendant in the booth on White Course, just tell him your here for volleyball and he’ll wave you through. Shouldn’t matter if you have a ticket to show him or not. I never have to show mine. See the official parking instructions below. Hope their readable.

Thanks yogi and rleed51 - it looks like I'll be able to park easily and for free on Friday, but not Saturday. Do you know what time the football starts and when the bulk of the crowd starts arriving?
Also, nyline, as administrator, why am I indicated on the forum as a 'freshman' I'm 65 for christ's sake!!!!!!

I myself have considered making this trip from California during the last 24 hours ... Getting a (pre-season) volleyball fever. Assuming you have Facebook, I would suggest also connecting with Penn State Volleyball Nation to also see if there are other options. www.facebook.com/groups/40938183692/. If I can make it, I'll be sure to say hello. Anthony

On Nyline's behalf, your'e classified as a "Freshman" simply based on the number of posts you've made. As you post more (should you desire), you'll move up. So far, the football game is set for Noon, Saturday. The crowd (100,000+), starts arriving Thursday. You need to be concerned about its dissipating.
