As to Wisconsin's prospects, I agree with PennState1973. Rettke is a tremendous offensive force, and has a good hard serve. She still needs to be a little quicker on the block, but she will be the most valuable player on a team that has lots of good talent. That more than anything else makes Marquette's victory so impressive. Clearly Marquette is a team on the rise. It was a really fun match-I refused my wife's demands to switch to the Packers/Bears- Good for you. The NFL is so 20th Century. Actually so is refusing wife's demands.

I think Wisconsin is a top two team in the country. Rettke might be the most valuable college player in the country. However, I am old school and get turned off by her excessive celebration on every play she makes. I would like to see her tone it down a bit but that's just me and my personality. You mean that's not named Kathryn Plummer? Or Jordan Thompson?

You mean that's not named Kathryn Plummer? Or Jordan Thompson? Good point! I completely forgot about her. I didn't even know about her, (obviously not following the ACC much), until I was watching the US national team. She is a force.

You mean that's not named Kathryn Plummer? Or Jordan Thompson? Yes, that's a very good point about Thompson. I forgot about her. If she was on a B1G or Pac-12 team she would be getting 10 times as much publicity right now.
The fun thing about volleyball is you can never be sure what's going to happen. Wisconsin looked really good the first two sets at which time I made my prediction about them. And then in sets 3,4, and 5 they went sideways. I still slightly favor Wisconsin to win the B1G but it wouldn't surprise me if Penn State won. PSU does not have the most talent but they have the best head coach.

It will be a battle for the title, for sure. I wouldn't rule Penn State out, but they definitely aren't the favorite.

I wonder if this "upset" will compel Iowa to hire its second consecutive Marquette coach.

Whole bunch of upsets on Friday. I've "bolded" the winners on the thread's first page.
