Probably because he always wants to put the best players on the court even if they don't play as smart as they should. We definitely do not have an adequate backup setter period. It wasn't a Weiskircher problem. And I don't think Coach Rose meant the players aren't listening to him, he meant it's not translating into change on the court, Big difference. It's always the setter's fault. They're the scapegoats most of the time.

Where is there any detail that indicates there is no back up setter and why pray tell do you feel there is a need for one?

The sentence above reads better like this:
"Where is there any detail that indicates there is no back up setter and why pray tell do you feel there is a need for one?"

We definitely do not have an adequate backup setter period. Our biggest problem right now is serve receive, hands down, not the setter. You solve this, and any setter in D1 will do their job well. If you don't fix this, then only a Carlini type can help your team because 99% of setters will look bad without a good pass.

Gotta let the author have their voice. As an editor, I would have added commas around "pray tell." But I try to avoid editing on Forums.

It is interesting that when a difference of opinion occurs between our coach and players everyone comes to the defense of the players. I don't know who is right but Coach Rose has never given me any reason to doubt him. I don't think anyone believes we are playing at our best right now. I still would like someone to explain to me why we lost to Northwestern. I always support our team but cannot turn a blind eye to reality.

I clearly should have paid more attention in my "How to be a Zen Buddhist monk and a Volleyball fan, in an infinite number of karmically challenging steps" class. Plus, as fans, we really aren't part of the problem or the solution.

It just took me a while to figure out what was being said so I wanted to help out the next reader, not so much to correct the author. I probably should have made that clear, no disrespect to Bob2061.

I just finished watching all of the Sopranos. In that show, if a character had said your line, he would have added "just bustin' balls." Then, 50-50 chance, someone wacks him. Me, I chuckled.
