I'm surprised that we didn't fall to 16. Penn State's rank would have less to do with how far Nebraska advanced and more to do with how Oregon and UCLA did. Since Georgia Tech upset Pitt and had already beaten Penn State there is a good argument for ranking them ahead of us also. I agree with you, Georgia Tech should be ahead of us, their only questionable defeat was to Notre Dame 3-2 at home. Their other defeats were to UCLA 3-1 away and Louisville 3-0 home. If we are applying common sense, which no selection committee has ever used, then yes they should be ahead of us. |

Pittsburgh lost to Louisville 2-3, 13-15 in the fifth, their second 2-3 loss to Louisville. I'm getting the impression that Louisville may be for real and/or deserves to be ranked pretty high. Pittsburgh not so much. As other people have mentioned, would have expected Georgia Tech to be higher than PSU since Georgia Tech beat Pittsburgh. Kentucky seems to be overrated a bit as it doesn't seem that they've beat anybody of note other than Stanford who is good but not great this year; at least so far. Kentucky lost to Wisc 3-1, Louisville twice 3-2, beat Arkansaw twice 3-2. It may be that KY is the beneficiary of teams in from of the losing so they moved up by default. It's one of those years. One would think that PSU should be ahead of MINN; PSU swept MINN and OH, took Wisc to 5; whereas MINN got swept by Wisc & PSU and beat OH 3-1. Oh well. We know that most voters aren't looking at anything other than the won/loss record. Nebraska (the Evil Empire  ) seems to be getting their act together, unfortunately from a PSU fan's perspective. They handled Purdue pretty easily, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-21. Lexi Sun has been benched which created a big kerfluffle on Volleytalk as some people thought she deserved better. However, I don't think those people have watched some games as, for whatever reason, Lexi isn't playing well this year. |

That would be tough to take. It's also difficult to become a multi-millionaire from NIL when you're not considered good enough by the coaching staff to be a starter for your team.

Hopefully she can fix whatever isn't working. Just not at the expense of PSU Reminds me of a woman soccer player for the US. It was her dream to play for the USWNT. She was really good, but not good enough, or maybe she was good enough but the coaches didn't think she was. Whatever. Really sad for someone to spend years and years to achieve a goal and come up short. Life is that way sometimes. |
