>1 ballot mention: Creighton 89; Notre Dame 48; Rice 48; Tennessee 20; Hawai'i 10; Denver 7; UNLV 5; Illinois 4; Loyola Marymount 2.
6 teams mentioned on only one ballot for a total of 33 combined points.
Dropped Out: Rice 23; Notre Dame 25
If I read the ballots correctly, Steve Greene, Josef Forman, Jill Kramer, and Jeremiah Larsen did not give PSU any votes at all. While each voted up GT into the mid-teens which seems odd if all they did so far was beat 2 currently unranked teams. I'm not familiar with any of those voters; last time...maybe 3 years ago...when one coach omitted PSU each ballot throughout the season (may need to fact check), it sort of started a war here. lol. Not my intention here. No. Not at all.

As you say really odd. Really inconsistent. Can't have it both ways, GT is good for beating PSU, but PSU isn't ranked. Oh well, as the saying goes, consistency is the bugaboo of little minds. How silly of us to expect that. As I said earlier, I wouldn't mind meeting GT in the NCAA's. I think that PSU has a much higher upside than GT.

Jill Kramer is the head coach of TCU -- formerly Katie Clark's TCU; Steve Greene is Texas A&M's head coach. Josef Foreman is a coach with Mississippi State. Jeremiah Larsen is the head coach of Weber State.

They put too much emphasis on the first match of the season. Things will even out as the season moves on.
Thanks for pointing out the coaches that didn't give PSU votes. That's one thing that bothers me. I'm fine with the poll results as long as I believe all the coaches are trying to be honest and not game the poll.

I think we're all confused about the poll. We expect it to make sense. Ain't gonna happen. I just noticed that Ohio St, ranked #11, beat Washington, ranked # 4. So the ranking of the two switched places. Ohio St is now #4 and Washington is #11. Which makes no sense at all. If Washington is only ranked 11 than why should Ohio St move up to 4. I think it's because for a micro second, Washington stays at #4 justifying Ohio St being ranked at #4, and THEN moves down to #11.

Yep, there's alot of bending of the space-time continuum with AVCA polling. Where's my flux capacitor when I need it?

Well that's pretty funny. Sweep 3 credible opponents and go backwards.

This year's poll probably impossible to be very accurate. When you factor in:
1) Coming off a covid year where hard to tell if a team is bad or just sick. 2) Hard to tell how good a team is because of all the transfers back and forth. 3) The inertia of the poll. Once you get in a certain area, it takes an act of God to change your position much.
I personally think that Nebraska, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Baylor, Western Kentucky, to name a few, are all over ranked. Yeah well. Like others have said, it will come out in the wash. I was watching PSU 2010 version semi-final. They were seeded 5th that year. Didn't seem to matter that much.
