Salima (I know, I know...but we can dream), Fawcett, Glass, Wilson, D'Errico. Make some form of this happen, please. And announce it fast because time will cost you transfer portal success.

IF this in fact occurs and that is a big IF I suspect the top candidate will be a former Cornhusker and the current head coach of Louisville currently battling Wisconsin in the semi final of the ncaa tourney

Well, however, this play's out, she is now free having lost to the cheeseheads, and now the conundrum I face is, do I want to walk on nails and root for Wisconsin or drink acid and root for the Cornhuskers, I'll take the nails. I got a B1G final to root for at last, unfortunately it is not the one I would have wished for.

Apparently she just signed an extension literally a day ago Probably removes her as a possibility

I'm sure Rose always wanted to keep his successor "in family." No reason for DBK to leave Louisville until John Cook retires.

According to an ESPN article published yesterday DBK did sign a six year extension. Interestingly, according to the article the only school she’s allowed to leave for without penalty is Nebraska. So, it seems she’s deliberately set up her own pathway back to Lincoln.

On a new thread on VT speculating about RR's successor a couple of people have suggested--unseriously, I think--Mark Pavlik. None of them seem to be aware that Pav's wife, Heather, is the highly accomplished coach of the Juniata College women's team (https://www.juniatasports.net/sports/wvball/coaches/Heather_Pavlik?view=bio). She has been my preference for a long time.

This was less an endorsement of VT (although TomClen has now started a new RR thread, which to me, at least, gives it some legitimacy) than a way to introduce Heather Pavlik's name into the the discussion. I may have done this 4-6 years ago when any mention of RR's leaving was heretical.

I remember when a prior (and very winning) Juniata coach who RR was very friendly with made the move to Naval Academy and swiftly became a contender there. So there is direct evidence of capacity to move from DIII to DI and succeed.

*IF* Russ Rose is retiring, I would LOVE to see Nicole Fawcett. She is my favorite VB player of all time and I think she has the fire that would make a fun contrast to how Coach Rose has coached. I have loved RR's teams and I will love watching/rooting for Penn State forever no matter who is coach. I would rather see someone with head coaching experience and a proven track record. Nicole would be a gamble. This is not a learn-on-the-job position. I could see Nicole moving into an assistant coach position.
Nebraska's Associate Head Coach Hildebrand has accepted the head coaching position at Long Beach State (his alma mater) so it won't be him.
The players planning to return deserved to be told as soon as a coaching change decision was made (if it was made) which would explain all the transfer portal activity.

This exchange is fuel on this fire. I don’t think there’s just smoke anymore on this story…

nyline & Ethan, you guys run a website dedicated to PSU women's volleyball. Do you honestly have no insight into the current coaching situation--or do have insight but are constrained from sharing it here (either because of outside forces or your own moral compasses)? A "no comment" will do nicely. Thanks

If it's Salima, why would so many players be in the portal?
