Kash Williams posted on her Instagram story about an hour ago that she was invited to be a member of the 2022 U.S. collegiate national team. It’s unclear whether any other Penn State players made it, as it’s still early in the process and USA volleyball hasn’t released the official roster yet. Last year, 28 players made the team, including Kaitlyn Hord. Hord and the rest of the team trained in Anaheim, California, June 13-18, 2021. I’ll post an update when I find out more.

To me, that looks like Adanna Rollins on the left. Am I wrong? Or is that an old photo?

That photo was taken after KSC’s introductory press conference.

KSC has gotten sooooo much more comfortable in interviews. She nails this one, with several "out of the park" (IMHO) answers. Two of my favorites (questions and answers are paraphrased): Q: You've taken over a powerhouse program from a legendary coach, people know your name now. What are some things people don't know about you? A: Well, it's the age of social media, so everyone knows everything, right? (Then gives great answer about being a family person, grew up in South Chicago, a battler, empowered by strong women) Q: People talk about this being a rebuilding year for Penn State. What does that mean to you? A: It's noise. It's just noise.

IMO, seeing her protective side shows how she's taking ownership over the wellbeing of the student athletes.

Of course she will provide public support for her players and she already knows how to do so. I would expect less public bluntness than we saw with Coach Rose. I also think she would like to transition from the focus on her to the team, so her responses could seen in that context.

Kashauna Williams and Adanna Rollins are among 38 players selected to this year’s U.S. collegiate national team. Rollins’ college team is listed as TBD in the press release, which would seem to indicate she’s in the transfer portal. New Nebraska middle blocker Kaitlyn Hord also made the team.
