2022 Polls and Ratings (AVCA, RPI, Massey etc.)

I'm amazed at the rankings of PSU and UCF. Granted, the selection committee gave the edge to PSU in the they are seeded 14 and UCF is seeded 19. But there is a big disparity between Pablo, Massey, RPI rankings and the "human" polls, i.e. Rich Kern, Avca and Volleytalk.

PSU Pablo ranking = 19, UCF ranking = 18.
PSU Massey ranking = 15, UCF ranking = 14,]
PSU RPI ranking, = 19, UCF ranking = 17

PSU Rich Kern ranking = 11, UCF ranking = 25
PSU AVCA ranking = 11, UCF ranking = 21
PSU Volleytalk ranking = 12, UCF ranking = 20

The Pablo ranking, which I had thought was quite good, (and probably is in most circumstances), and the Massey rankings give PSU and UCF almost identical rankings; UCF is one ahead in both systems, whereas the NCAA RPI ranks UCF two positions ahead of PSU.

IMHO, this points out the issues that the algorithmic rankings have with trying to compare teams that have played very few common opponents; the "human" polls seem to be a bit better in comparing teams via the "eye" test. As I have mentioned before, too my knowledge, UCF hasn't played ANY teams in the top 25. Considering how many teams in the top 25 that PSU has played (and beat or come close), IMHO, ranking PSU close to UCF is ludicrous.

Hopefully, I'm right.

It will be interesting to see how accurate the seedings by the selection committee are.
