Dangerous to make these statements when you don't know what's going on in the players heads. This was not to be a dangerous comment at all. It was a reflection of missing the Russ Ross days and the fire those girls showed day in and day out. Just like someone else here shared their Nicole Fawcett memory. It was not an indication of how hard they work — I am sure I have no idea and i am certainly not questioning their want to win. But I guess times have changed and the way things play out on the court are different. If you had said it appears that they don't care, that is what you were really saying, I wouldn't have a problem. It's your opinion, (I would disagree with it, but that's life). I've played on teams where I had to be constantly be optimistic as otherwise, certain players would get so down on themselves that it would turn into a disaster. |

I appreciate that you are frustrated with the PSU play. Join the club. Most of us on the forum agree that this team has issues and needs some fixes. We just don't know what the fixes are.

I know that this forum includes people very close to the players, so I always hesitate to post anything negative about anyone, but I have to say, that I am hugely disappointed in Podraza. Most of the sets I saw were off the net, so the hitters were in front of the ball, or they were too low. This match probably set a record for number of tips by Penn State. There were two OOS balls that Podraza passed and Starck set, and I think those were two of the best sets of the match. I know that the passing has been pretty inconsistent, too, but even when Podraza had to only take one or two steps off the net to get the pass, the set was pretty poor.
If she doesn't improve by B1G season, we are going to be crushed by all of the top teams.

But to say all the sets were bad isn’t fair I don’t think. She does have to improve her placement (esp behind her) but there is definitely improvement in connection especially with the left pins. Don’t get me wrong I’m not deluded to the fact that there was far greater expectations but she’s trying to shake off 4 years of setting to a whole new set of people with far different needs. But maybe I’m just trying to be too positive 😅 |

I have to give Seton Hall credit- they were scrappy.
Seton Hall's defense does a great job defending cross court. Once Penn State started tipping and hitting line, they pulled away.
Last night our setting looked to be at a faster tempo. Hard to tell on a iPhone 13. Connections between Podraza and hitters looked scary good at times last night. Looking forward to watching this team grow, find ways to win, and shock the haters out there.
