8-27-16
(7:00 p.m. ET)
Sound off! I think the Nittany Lions could drop a set, or even two, but I'm hoping for a clean sweep.

Will Abby Detering return as the setter since Weiskircher set this morning? What message does it send to the team when Rose inserts serving subs who aren't the best at their positions? Granted the team is still jelling but these starters look to have pretty good chemistry already. Unless he serving is a problem we have a good chance to sweep. North Carolina is coming back on only 3 hours of rest.

Fourth set just ended. Those of you there--feel like you're getting your money's worth, or is it a horror show?

Switching sides in set 5. It's horror.

The “Kills” column looks good. The “Errors” column looks bad. Oh well—hard fought.

That was pathetic... Defense and Setting are just awful! Russ needs to get it together... Gonna be a long sad season. B1G teams will destroy this team

This team needs to develop a killer instinct. They seem so young...maybe because I am getting old.

Again the inept defense is showing it's ugky head. No matter how many kills some players get, their inability to defend will always catch up with them.

Coach Rose was very disappointed -- can't overstate this -- in the team, his own coaching, everything except the fans and the band. Praised Simone, Heidi and Kendall.

Taylor Leith, who almost single-handedly destroyed us, is from Port Matilda and went to State College Area High School.
Ugh!

I was unable to attend this game. I saw that Detering and Weiskircher split time. Abby started, so was she playing poorly? Or, was this just Coach Rose giving each an opportunity?

I watched. I came away disappointed that they blew the 4th set lead but left feeling that this group will be better than all the negative public remarks would lead us to believe. I am not negative on Abby and felt that we lost out when Ali and Miss Washington could not bring any pressure to bear. But there will be those days.

I'll have a full writeup later today, but the short answer is Coach Rose wasn't satisfied with setter play in the second set, so he made a switch. By the end of the match, he wasn't satisfied with Bryanna's play either. He's still looking for a setter to step up and play consistently.
