Can boosters buy a supply of foam PSU hands...w/6 fingers? I think that is a fabulous marketing idea (though I suspect it might not be embraced). Well done! OK Twelve hours of seriousness is enough. How can we make Traveler's idea reality?

Well I guess at least superficially, six fingers would represent a 20 percent cost increase.

Fun how ideas tend to be iterative, huh?

When did the athletic teams begin to travel abroad? What was the purpose of these travels? I asked this question yesterday to a person who has been active in support of the various varsity teams. She said it was for recruiting purpose. Has Russ ever recruited any one from Brazil, or the Dominican Republic? I am just curious about the purpose. Any ideas?

If you look on the GoPSU web feed, you'll see the history of foreign travel (been going on for decades). The team is allowed (I believe this is an NCAA restriction) only 1 foreign trip every 4 years (I'm assuming to equalize between the top D1s and those less fortunate). As you will read in the feed from Brazil, there are comments like "nice to play against faces we haven't seen before." Here are some reasons I believe this is not about foreign recruiting: 1) Teambuilding. go overseas w/your teammates, you'll build binding memories and get that 6-fingers-of-one-hand feeling we need. 2) Get your team to play credible teams when there's an NCAA restriction on other organized play until August. 3) Reward. Who wouldn't be thrilled to go on an all-expense paid (I'm assuming) foreign trip while in college. 4) from Spring Season in April through NCAAs in December, you want to keep the team together; here's a way to keep that going until the summer camps and summer school begin. Emily Sciorra's feed indicated just how grateful they are to be giving this gift from the Boosters.

Actually, the players do contribute to the cost, but the majority is paid by funds from the booster club.

At their own expense, of course.
