I was at the game with my son and we thoroughly enjoyed it. All played a very well rounded game I'm, envious. Is your son a student, or in a different demographic?

I was really pleased to see Thelen have another good game. It seems like she's more comfortable or something. A lot less tentative, in my opinion. I was too. She hit a variety of shots on lots of different routes. Our absence of a true RS means we need her to adapt. Biggest issue is hitting in transition with slow high sets. Unlike more powerful hitters, she has to find a way to use the block to get a good percentage of the transition points. She has struggled with that I the past, but did pretty well cleaning up the mess last night.

I keep hearing every week or every couple weeks that players look tired. Do U think psu has conditioning problems. Just curious. Never really thought about that in past because players seemed to be playing at even higher level at end then beginning with teams in past. I have just heard it a few times so just curious what others think

Kids in the Freshmen year are normally done by early November Kids in the Soph and Junior years have really difficult classes and travel on top of that. Seniors can be affected by many things but not as much. Oct and Nov is flu and mold season. I have found that in many sports with long seasons they talk of tapering and monitoring workouts. This maybe going on and probably is. The only reason I brought it up was Coach did and we have seen it before with this group. I think we will be alright. Just something to look for.

Which means she's using judgment instead of just whaling on the ball. seems like a senior!

We've posted a write-up on the Michigan match, with quotes from Coach Rose, Ali Frantti, and Simone Lee. Click Here for the post.

Never really thought about that in past because players seemed to be playing at even higher level at end then beginning with teams in past. I have just heard it a few times so just curious what others think Coach complained about new rules limiting the practice hours. So that may effect conditioning for matches (for all teams). By the way, in my subjective opinion, I don't think any players, our players or opponents, look tired. I do see varying energy levels where the home teams seem to have a little "extra," and a well timed block or winning a long rally jazzes the players up.

I'm surprised Simone was singled out for having trouble with Michigan's block because she only had 4 errors on 15 kills. Ali had 4 errors on 9 kills. Every player seem to have a solid performance on offense and defense. It was a team victory.

In addition, at least two of the blocks were clearly the result of poor sets where Simone had few options and was facing a well formed defense.
