1. Have you seen the senior letters? I cried reading THelen's. There will be more. Hope this link works... www.facebook.com/notes/penn-state-womens-volleyball/senior-letters-series-clare-powers/10155418767024213/2. Senior night is Saturday!? How can that be??? Last thing I want to do is close the book on these wonderful student athletes. "UP NEXT The Nittany Lions will return home for a lone weekend match as they host Rutgers on Saturday, Nov. 4 for a 7 p.m. match. Saturday will also be Senior Day as the Nittany Lions will honor the eight seniors in Abby Detering, Ali Frantti, Jen Halterman, Simone Lee, Lainy Pierce, Clare Powers, Heidi Thelen, and Haleigh Washington, before the match."

2 new letters, from Detering and Frantti. Detering's fills in some gaps in what we know about her; leaves a big question about how her time in FL derailed. Frantti giving us some more classic Ali-Haleigh stories.
A must read.

I'm not a Facebook user, so I probably wouldn't have found them had you not alerted us. As far as the "whys" leading up to Detering's transfer... it might be interesting to know, but it's probably best we don't. And it seems as if Abby chose not to say and she probably made a good decision. Most of the write-ups have been pretty moving. PSU is lucky to have so many quality athletes.

So I didn’t realize Weiskircher wasn’t a senior. Did she redshirt Hancock’s senior year? This sets up interesting scenarios next year. You have a highly rated setter coming in next year Weiskircher is basically losing her whole starting lineup with the exception of white and I guess u could throw Gorrell in there. With such a young team would u start blossom with the other freshman so that they can develop connections early. If most were coming back I’d probably go with Weiskircher cause she already has connection with the other players but since everyone is graduating what do u do? The other issue is you have one of the best Liberos in country coming in next year in Jenna Hampton but Kendall White is showing she can be pretty damn good. It’s would be a waste to sit one of them probably. So here’s a scenario, that I don’t know if it’s play plausible or not. Penn State has no outsides currently coming in next year. If u could may it be wise to redshirt both blossom and Hampton next year and save their eligibility and see what outsides they can get following year? Can u and redshirt more than one player in season? How would that affect scholarships. Can the scenario even happen.

I'll take an easy one: Yes, Bryanna redshirted during Hancock's senior year.

you won't have 6 rotation outside unless you get a transfer. that will be offset by Hampton and Holcomb. White stays at libero. back to a 5-1 i would say.

Think you are on, as far as we can think what will happen next August when coach makes the call. From what we've seen of BW this year, I think she is far better than she ever was last year. (Although listening to Coach on the Franklin Show, I'm wondering which setter the hitters are complaining about...) I don't think she possessed the skills to excel last year, but I think she can be first rate next year. I believe on TV feeds I've seen her communicating (including the emotional leader stuff) better this year than last; I see her interacting on plays more effectively; i see her scrambling, managing, and choosing better. Hancock proves that you don't have to sit on the RS bench, but how many Hancocks are there?
I don't often disagree w/Coach, but I thought his failure to pick a setter and stick with it last year did a disservice to the whole team. I hope whatever he does next year that it will not leave BW and someone else in a constant state of fighting for the job, because it's not healthy for the setter or hitters.

Final Senior Letter, from #15.
Can you guess who she's written this to?
When it’s over, and all is said done, thank you for letting me be one of the blessed few who got the opportunity to spend their time with you.

Hale Yes.
But you can only guess who she addressed the letter to before you read it!

Sorry to rain on your parade but Gabby will definitely play next year, she is that good. Things are going to be very crowded at setter and MH.

Why waste a year of her eligibility when she has no outsides. Why not redshirt her and let wieskircher finish season next year then hopefully get some highly rated outsides following year. That’s why I would red shirt Hampton also. She’s one of top liberos in country and u just want to bring her in as ds. Very unlikely White gets demoted.

K White just kinda came in and took over the position by her play in practice/preseason last year (Wasn't it supposed to be Lainy Pearce or K Holcomb?)... Who's to say the same won't happen next year with another outstanding freshman libero? Just a thought.
