Thanks for the link. Their reporters did a great job increasing my understanding of what went on. Nice Rose quotes about Gorrell.

Maybe a "lazy write-up" but a challenging read. Let's watch the three and four syllable words, nyline!

MUST WATCH! And, after Nyline makes his surprise appearance after the PSU segment (take a bow, Nyline!) the Howard segment is terrific for: 1) Kupferberg is a great man, a great coach, from what is shown here 2) If you doubt PSU, HE doesn't. Some of the best things you'll hear about our team come out of opp coach's mouth -- with admiration and respect. 3) Real clear strategy talk; where Rose can be a bit oblique, Coach K really breaks it down.

Be interested to know which player was already yelling at their teammates in lockeroom as Rose said before he said anything.

I just started to think, do u think they were so ramped up for those last weekend matches that this first match was kind of letdown energy wise. Cause they came with no passion. You think they used it all last weekend and they need something else to spark them? You would think the tourney would be enough but wasn’t case last night. all I know is they can’t play like that anymore or bad things will happen.

I agree that there was a decided lack of emotion, because no matter what the players might say, they knew they were going to win.
But Howard executed a good game plan specifically to shut down the pin hitters, and had one good set on offense. In the other three sets, Howard hit ZERO. That is pretty dominant defense. We did have more reception errors than we have had recently. Hard serving is the only way to beat us. We shall see if any one else is able to keep so many hard serves in.

She has been starting slow for awhile now and comming in late it seems. Those two outsides need to pick it up. Luckily last night Gorrell was picking up some of their slack but lee def needs to be better. Can’t ride Washington too hard this early in tourney. I believe they may be able to do it in a match but you want it to be late in tourney not wear her out early. Last few weeks offensively it seems to be the middles, washington/gorell getting it done but gonna need play from outsides if we want to go deep and have a shot in my opinion. Personally I don’t think there is anyone in the country that can stop Washington 1 on one maybe even 2 on 1. I think she is that good but I don’t think she can’t win this tourney single handed. Gonna need outside help. I’m not really worried about white because with the type of person she seems to be I don’t see her having another match like that. She will bring it.

I will say this, looking at Lee and Washington’s play last night it validates for me that although I am happy for both players Washington should have been BIG player of year. She is miss consistency, lee not so much.

She is miss consistency, lee not so much. . Having said that some of this doesn’t surprise me if I really look at it. Washington and frantic were good but they have been here before. Sure lee has also but she didn’t really play during that freshman championship run the other two did. They prob know how to handle the pressure better as the favorite and all the expectations that come with it. The two previous years they weren’t the number one team with all the expectations which can effect things especially being seniors. Thelen wasn’t on floor much freshman year either. So even though Alli was good, lee either needs to step up her game or Alli needs to take hers to freshman year levels to make up for Lee’s absence. Where’s Hancock when you need her. Lol.

Howard's coach in the post-match presser said that they could either try to stop our middles or our pin hitters, but knew they couldn't do both. Their main focus was on stopping Lee. That's probably why Haleigh, Frantti and Tori had good matches, while Lee didn't. Howard could only pic their poison and the poison they chose were our middles.
