Statistical Comparison (includes all matches played this season)Stat Comp Observations: 1.) PSU has a .044 higher attack efficiency differential. 2.) NE has a 0.73 higher kills/set differential. 3.) NE has a 0.38 higher digs/set differential. 4.) PSU has a 0.93 higher blocks/set differential. Note: All other stat differences are negligible. Advantage: Toss-up (execution of game plan will dictate this match, IMO) Eyeball Test Observations:OK, so this is the rematch we've all been waiting for. As idseer2 said, "either we are better than Nebraska or we aren't." I, for one, am nervous about it. The Huskers are a very good serve/pass team. If Lee can hold her own in the receiving category and Detering and Thelen have good games, we will win this one. PSU blocking, serving, passing, and digging have all gotten better since last we met. Not to mention that PSU has been successfully running middles the past month and is very efficient offensively. I think John Cook will have a good game plan; he always does. I'm hoping his players can't execute it.

Doesn’t sound like you’re nervous. Good overview.

Yea and I for one am sick and tired of the morons at ESPN they gave 2 hour time slots to all the games. I suppose they never heard of 5 setters. These are supposed to be the top 16 teams did they think every match would be 3 sets. I am still ticked off I did not get to see Penn State first set on either night.

I watched replay on ESPN3 to see first set of Mizzou.

I didn't want to start another thread, so I'm throwing this one in here as well. Stanford vs Florida -- Stat Comp
Click on thumbnail to enlarge image.
Stat Comp Observations:1.) Gators have negligible better attack efficiency and ball handling error numbers. 2.) Cardinal has a 0.20 higher kills/set differential. 3.) Cardinal has a 0.40 higher aces/set differential. 4.) Gators have a 1.10 higher digs/set differential. 5.) Gators have a 0.30 higher blocks/set differential. Note: All other stat differences are negligible. Advantage: Stanford (slight advantage from experience of last year, IMO)

Husker fans are getting testy on VT.
A few are down to earth, but some others are riding with blinders on.

Husker fans are getting testy on VT. A few are down to earth, but some others are riding with blinders on. We can only hope that PSU's play will remove the scales from their eyes. I said this following the loss to Nebraska months ago, but the first set was very close (it went to extra pts), and there were some uncharacteristic errors (not to mention a different substitution flow than what we've seen since). Let's say PSU pulls out that first set (just one more error from NEB) and they lose 3-1, suddenly it's not a sweep, but that doesn't really change much about the match. (Also, would that win in first game have added some momentum?) I think Joe's old "you're never as good as you think you are when you win and never as bad as you think you are when you lose" applies really well to that match. I hope Nebraska is as cocky as their fans, because that was a close match, even though it was a sweep. I think the team may have been a bit too amped to take it to Nebraska in September. What will the mindset be this go-round? It should be a good match with a decidedly pro-Husker crowd. For me, I'll never bet against a RR scouting report.

ESPN is available on the Internet free to anyone who subscribes to ESPN content by cable. When I access, my computer goes through an automated step where it signs me in.
once you get to the ESPN on-line platform, it can be a little hinkey getting to the right spot. if you see an on-demand link, that probably means you're headed in the right direction. they also sort by sport, by pro and college, and so we're often at the very end of the sports list.
hope that helps!

I also find that going to the Schedule tab, and then selecting "volleyball" from the sports list, puts me onto a page with tabs for both "Live and Upcoming" events and "Replay" events. So in this case, I'd be looking for "Replay."

Scouting NE
Coach has grumbled from time to time this season about the trouble they put into scouting and how it would be nice for the players to listen.
This, in reference to a senior-laden team.
But i think some of their wins post-NE were aided by the scouting reports put into action; perhaps Kendall improved as she learned to depend on them more. Hoping the players will be very good students this week.
It seems that Dennis' role is ever more institutionalized, and one player (Thelen?) credited his directions with their success at the net.
All this makes our December team look stronger than our 9-22-17 team.
