Scouting NE Coach has grumbled from time to time this season about the trouble they put into scouting and how it would be nice for the players to listen. This, in reference to a senior-laden team. But i think some of their wins post-NE were aided by the scouting reports put into action; perhaps Kendall improved as she learned to depend on them more. Hoping the players will be very good students this week. It seems that Dennis' role is ever more institutionalized, and one player (Thelen?) credited his directions with their success at the net. All this makes our December team look stronger than our 9-22-17 team. I think it was Heidi -- good point about Dennis.

If you have ever seen or read one of the scouting reports you would understand how thorough it is giving so many pointers on the oppositions players, there tendencies and their weak an strong points. It is almost too much to remember but valuable to those who concentrate and use for success

The twins at Nebraska had PSU number when attacking from the right side hitting down the line and challenging the player there who is already overwhelmed with the amount of court she must cover. The clever opponent hits hard down the line and then tempts with tips and attacks going to the center and then all the way a cross to our setter. Last year we were not able to block the twin from the MB location and I hope that we may improve on that this year. Puts a lot of pressure on the 6 rotation player in 6 when White is in 5.
Of course the twins are no longer there and what I have seen of Nebraska they have not lost s beat in that attack situation

Although I hate to bring up his name, Jerry Sandusky was known for his exceptionally detailed scouting reports. PSU players from the past said he could tell what play an opponent would run simply by looking at how a quarterback stood under center or how opposing offensive linemen would point their fingers on the turf when they lined up. PSU's defensive players were always overwhelmed by the detailed scouting and told Sandusky just to forget all that stuff and just let them play ball.
I sometimes wonder if Russ doesn't give the girls a bit of information overload.

I think that could be true during the season, but once the calendar turns to December, you rarely see a talented RR coached team underperform in recent years... Blanking Washington AT Washington 3-0 in 2013, Topping #1 Stanford in 2014, Almost taking out Nebraska last year, etc...

ESPN is available on the Internet free to anyone who subscribes to ESPN content by cable. When I access, my computer goes through an automated step where it signs me in. once you get to the ESPN on-line platform, it can be a little hinkey getting to the right spot. if you see an on-demand link, that probably means you're headed in the right direction. they also sort by sport, by pro and college, and so we're often at the very end of the sports list. hope that helps! I also find that going to the Schedule tab, and then selecting "volleyball" from the sports list, puts me onto a page with tabs for both "Live and Upcoming" events and "Replay" events. So in this case, I'd be looking for "Replay." Me also. And I'm the least tech capable person I know (Leader of the Luddites)

I didn't want to start another thread, so I'm throwing this one in here as well. Stanford vs Florida -- Stat Comp
Click on thumbnail to enlarge image. Stat Comp Observations:1.) Gators have negligible better attack efficiency and ball handling error numbers. 2.) Cardinal has a 0.20 higher kills/set differential. 3.) Cardinal has a 0.40 higher aces/set differential. 4.) Gators have a 1.10 higher digs/set differential. 5.) Gators have a 0.30 higher blocks/set differential. Note: All other stat differences are negligible. Advantage: Stanford (slight advantage from experience of last year, IMO) Two other key advantages. (1) Stanford plays in a better conference. (2) Stanford played PSU twice so knows better what it takes.

Husker fans are getting testy on VT. A few are down to earth, but some others are riding with blinders on. My blinders are "Rose" colored.

My only concern is that the #1 ranked seeds have not done well in the tournament for a long time.
