This match was an outright beat down. San Diego lost their libero to a dislocated shoulder the other day.
How many teams have had a key player go down in the last 2-3 weeks? It's got to be 4-5 now. I don't remember this many injuries happening at this time of year before. Got to be rough. I remember Micha going down in 2012 when PSU had a good chance to take it all. Totally agree with you about 2012. Micha was going to put that team into the final and win it all. I have no doubt about it. Then she did just that in 2013 and 2014. I don’t remember who came in to replace Micha at setter in that game, but she couldn’t get it done (who could?), as Micha agonized on the bench.

She started as setter the preceding season and set PSU to a National Championship in 2010.

ILL takes it 3-1, 25-23 in the 4th.
ILL was up 16-9 and Wisc went on a 4 point run and then closed to 2 later in the set. Ill was up 24-21 and Wisc fought off 2 of the 3 set points.

Oregon is giving the Huskers everything they could ever want.
Nebraska ahead 19-17 as Ducks take a break.

Then Coach put Micha back in in spite of the fact that she couldn't jump. My brother and I have wondered over the years why Carpenter didn't play the rest of the match. Might have lost with her, but certainly weren't going to win with Micha hobbled. Sort of a binary solution set. Carpenter begged to be let in but it didn't happen.

Makes you think that the PSU win over Oregon had something to do with their defeat of Minn the previous night and so Oregon was coming off a high. Not saying that PSU couldn't beat them now, but I think it would be a lot closer.

Nebraska wins set 25-23, thanks to 4 late errors by the Ducks.
