That's right, it's another Wednesday and GOPSUSPORTS has put out their look-ahead for PSU's weekend match against Buffalo--their last dual meet of the season. The match is scheduled for 2:00 PM EST Sunday, 24 February. It will be available on BTN2GO. Last year, PSU ended it's season against Buffalo with a 55-0 win (missing one of those pesky extra points)*. As far as PSU's lineup goes, we should see RBY back in his position, wrestling at 133-lbs. I don't know who will wrestle at 149, Berge or Verkleeren? (Berge is easier to type) The big question is at 184; does Shakur Rasheed return to the lineup prior to the tournaments? does Franny Bisono sub in after tripping the light fantastic at last week's THON? (Did the Volleyball team do anything?); or will Mason Manville manfully go up two weight classes to fill the bill? Here's the GOPSUSPORTS link: gopsusports.com/news/2019/2/20/wrestling-the-preview-no-1-penn-state-hosts-buffalo-in-dual-finale-sunday.aspx* Thanks Nyline

Justin Lopez wrestling at 125-lbs for PSU. Redshirt freshman. Schnupp? Skin condition. Lopez loses 5-0. The score indicative of Lopez's effort.
RBY on the mat for 133, and gets a major win.
Nick will get a forfeit at 141.
Apologies; Mrs. Gnu had a flat and I was called away. I know PSU won 47-3. I'll link the GOPSUSPORTS write-up when it's available.
Brady Berge got a major decision win at 149.

Nolf's opponent decided to pee into the wind while tugging on Superman's cape. In the third period, the Buffalo wrestler got a quick reversal on Nolf and after turning him loose, did a little dance. Nolf took exception and pinned him about 10-seconds later. It was Nolf's 58th pin.
Then.....
Joseph, Hall, Rasheed, and Nickal pinned their opponents. Cassar got a major decision, the announcer (one that sounds like he has some credibility) said Anthony may get another year of eligibility. The attendees at the match should get a refund because the match was over so soon. Concessions must have taken a hit.

That dance thing was one of the weirdest performances (I think that's the right word) I've ever seen in an N C AA wrestling match. Definitely the most stupid. fwiw, here's the okie state - Iowa match. The pin of Spencer Lee is worth watching, and for an example of what apparently isn't viewed by officials in Stillwater as excessive celebration, check out 174 lb Chandler Rogers after his pin:

"That announcer" is Jeff Byers, the radio voice of Penn State wrestling, and arguably the best at his craft. Jeff definitely has credibility when it comes to his knowledge of PSU wrestling.

I didn't catch his name and I was too feckless (lazy in 8 letters) to go back and listen. I recognize his voice and I'm glad to have called something right. I've learned a bit this season and look forward to learning more. I always appreciate input from those with more knowledge.

It's always a joy to listen to Ironhead.

I'm including a link to an article from Black Shoe Diaries about how the NCAA allocated bids by weight class to the conferences for the Championships later in March. As you might expect, the B1G got quite a few automatic bids. The B1G weight class that received the fewest bids was at 197-pounds, which received only five automatic bids. Let's hope Bo Nickal has a top 5 finish in him for next weekend's B1G championships. The article also includes a link to an explanation of how the NCAA allocates the bids. Here's the link: www.blackshoediaries.com/2019/3/1/18246514/big-ten-wrestling-ncaa-conference-allocations-penn-state-wrestling-iowa-michigan-ohio-stateFYI: The Centre Daily Times has been chock full of interesting articles about wrestling over the past two weeks, but I haven't been able to link them as I've exceeded my limit for free looks. So, If you want to read more, search away.

GOPSUSPORTS released a piece about the seedings for the B1G Tournament that begins Saturday, 9 March. Many PSU wrestlers were one- or two-seeds and received first-round byes. That's good in some ways but it makes getting extra team points for major decisions, tech falls, and pins a little more difficult. Despite that difficulty, most analysts have selected PSU as the favorite to win the tournament. Here's the link: gopsusports.com/news/2019/3/8/seeds-finalized-for-2019-big-ten-wrestling-championships.aspx
