If Nevils can come back, it will make Penn State even tougher for B1G and NCAA tournaments. Wouldn't that be nice! Would also love to see 5 National Champions this year! This match was sold out in Rec Hall and the Ohio State match is already sold out in BJC! Do you know how they will determine who wrestles the top Non-Conference team in the upcoming NWCA National Duals at the end of this month? If both Penn State and Iowa are undefeated who is considered top BIG 10 team to wrestle who more than likely will be top non-BIG 10 team North Carolina State? NWCA National Duals: Division I Dual Series set for February 21-22 at on-campus Big Ten sites NOTE: Illini will not be able to participate in this years NWCA National Duals due to conflict of schedule. Presumably the Big 10 will be represented by the team with higher national ranking, which will be Penn State. 5 champs is a lot to hope for, but certainly 3 is very manageable (among Meagludis, Retherford, Nolf, Nickal, McIntosh). Retherford seems like as close to a lock as one could imagine.

If we do wrestle North Carolina State then it looks like we should win that one but it may be a lot closer than the past matches this season so far. There may be a good match-up with #1 Nolf vs #5 Gantt at 157. I don't see any other closely ranked wrestlers. They have #1 wrestler at HWT; #3 Kevin Jack at 141; #4 Max Rohskopf at 165.

Gwiz played a big part in our 2014 championship by knocking off Minnesota's Tony Nelson in the finals, and I have been a fan since and hope he wins his third straight this year. Supposedly he wanted to come to PSU but wasn't recruited. I wouldn't concede 141 yet. As a four-time PIAA champ, Gulibon absolutely has the basic ability to be a national champion and he is finally showing that promise.

125 - #1 Tomasello wins it 3-1 OSU up 3-0. This may be match-up for both the finals in BIG 10 and NCAA's. Nico got caught on a counter move at end of period 3. This could go either way the next time these two meet should they both make it to the finals.
Other match-ups:
133 - #5 Conaway vs #10 DiJulius - Conaway comes from behind to win it 8-4 - Tied 3-3 141 - #14 Gulibon vs #4 Jordan - #4 Jordan wins in a tight match until then last seconds Guilibon loses in a counter move and gets taken down; 6-2 - OSU up 6-3 149 - #1 Retherford vs Sal Marandino - OSU's wrestler Sal Marandino just was in there not to get pinned and stalled the entire match - #1 Retherford pinned him at end of period 1. Penn State up 9-6 157 - #1 Nolf vs #11 Ryan - Another guy that stalled most of the match - #1 Nolf wins Major Dec - 19-6
Penn State up 13-6
Break
165 - Morelli vs #2 Jordan - Morelli hangs tough and loses a tight match to #2 Jordan by getting taken down with seconds left in 3rd- 2-3 174 - #1 Nickal vs #14 Myles Martin - #1 Nickal wins by decision 11-5 (last match between these two was by only 1 point with Nickal winning).
Penn State up 16-9
184 - #9 McCutcheon vs #13 Courts - #9 McCutcheon wins in his first match back 4-0 and gets #13 Courts back from loss earlier in season.
Penn State up now 19-9
197 - #1 Mcintosh vs Fox #1 Mcintosh wins by TF 24-8
Penn State wins dual meet - up 24-9
HWT - Johnson #2 Snyder (World Champion) - #2 Snyder TF's Johnson. Nice effort by Johnson but Snyder just too much.
Final Score - Penn State 24-14 (Exact prediction by FlowWrestling)
In other wrestling news, IMAR wins tonight but just gets a decision over #19 Berger of Nebraska 13-6. Nebraska easily wins dual by score of 30-10

Looks like half the matches could go in OSU's favor.

Looks like half the matches could go in OSU's favor. There were two pivotal matches at 133 and 184 which helped seal the deal today. As expected, we got bonus points from our 3 of the 4 #1 wrestlers.

Cael "We will be at our best in March" That doesn't bode well with the rest of the teams in the upcoming tournaments.

Thanks so much for doing these videos. Let me add my thanks as well. I DVR-ed the match since I am traveling until tomorrow and I figured, correctly, that the southern hotel I am at would not have the Big 10 network. But last night I got tired of waiting and avoiding this and other sites that might mention the score. Conaway and McCutcheon were the big stars, I thought, winning toss-up matches; Morelli very impressive (or Jordan unimpressive?); Megaludis perhaps a bit disappointing. I was surprised that Snyder did not even try to turn Johnson.

In the post match press conference, Cael spoke about(and to him) Nico's attempted take down at the end of match which resulted in counter take down by Tomasello. Nico needs to be patient and wait until a good shot is open in those situations. He will have 1 or 2 more chances at Tomasello in March.

Perhaps I was expecting a a fall given the disparity between the two. Looking forward to Snyder agains Gwiz. Also, supposedly Nevills in weighting it at a sold 260. Could be be very interesting for a coup,e of years.

I'm sure Nico will learn from this and wrestle more cautiously next time they meet. I expect Nico to work hard at beating him next time.
