Penn State again wins the Southern Scuffle (HD -720p)! Oklahoma State takes a distant 2nd. We took 5 of the 10 Finals! Couple of very impressive Freshmen this year! Here is all but 197lb Morgan Mcintosh match(will be separate due to download issues). I also will have any other Penn State match (individual match) links for this tournament available on request.

Nice post. Penn State keeps loading new quality talent every year. They have a very good coach, Cael Sanderson, who will keep them highly competitive for a long time. Some news below.
Penn State Wrestlers Own No. 1 Ranking on Intermat TPI Dec. 15, 2015
The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team (5-0, 1-0 B1G) remains the top-ranked team in the country in the Dec. 15 release of InterMat Wrestling’s Tournament Power Index (TPI). Head coach Cael Sanderson’s squad also tops InterMat’s Dual Meet Rankings. This marks the eighth straight week that Penn State, with nine ranked individuals, holds the No. 1 spot in the TPI.
Penn State sits in the No. 1 spot with 113 points while Oklahoma State is in second at 103.5. Iowa is third at 100.0 while Cornell is fourth with 73.0. Virginia Tech sits in fifth with 72.0.
Senior Morgan McIntosh (Santa Ana, Calif.) is ranked No. 1 at 197 and is 8-0 on the year and sophomore Zain Retherford (Benton, Pa.) is ranked No. 1 at 149 with a 9-0 mark to lead Penn State’s nine ranked wrestlers. Red-shirt freshman Jason Nolf (Yatesboro, Pa.) is ranked No. 3 at 157 with a 10-0 record and senior Nico Megaludis (Murrysville, Pa.) is ranked No. 4 at 125 with a 9-1 mark. Red-shirt freshman Bo Nickal (Allen, Texas) is ranked No. 5 at 174 with a 10-0 record, giving Penn State five wrestlers ranked in the top five.
Junior All-American Jimmy Gulibon (Latrobe, Pa.) is ranked No. 6 at 141 at 5-2 while senior All-American Jordan Conaway (Abbottstown, Pa.) is ranked No. 6 at 133 with an 8-1 record. Sophomore Matt McCutcheon (Apollo, Pa.) is ranked No. 13 at 184 with a 7-1 record. Junior Geno Morelli (DuBois, Pa.) makes his rankings debut as a Nittany Lion with a No. 19 nod at 165 and is 11-2 on the year.

Reading the results of the event I was struck by the roster of the PSU team and the over whelming number of young men who are from our state. I did not realize that PA was such a stronghold.
And for light relief I under stand the Washington Redskins are dropping their name.
Just be THE REDSKINS NOW to remove the stigma of Washington from the fine native American people.

Yes, PA is a loaded with wrestling talent. Of course, you have to give a lot of credit to the head coach, he is really one of the best, if not THE BEST coach in D1.

Maui, Many thanks for the links. I was following on trackwrestling's dashboard, which is pretty tedious if informative. I'd love to see Nolf and Nickal's semifinal matches if that is not a problem.

Those two RS Freshmen have really impressed me this year! I see both going deep in NCAA's and possibly taking it all in March! Nolf Semi-Final Nickal Semi-Final

I wasn't a fan of their redshirting last year, but it seems like the right decision. The team is a bit exposed with their classmate Nevills being injured again. Right now I'm not sure I see us qualifying a heavyweight for the NCAA tournament. But if Gulibon gets out of the doldrums, it probably won't matter.

Thanks for posting! I had really wanted to see the 165 match after reading that Rasheed decked Welch. Still slightly concerned about heavyweight; it doesn't really matter in most duals, but in the tournament having the prospects of no points at a weight is problematic.

Maybe move Brian Brill to HWT when McCutcheon heals or keep Brill at 184 and move McCutcheon to HWT. Right now we have a couple dinged up wrestlers that need time to heal. Gulibon, Morelli and MCCutcheon.

Brill and McCutcheon would be giving up even more weight. There has been very little news on Nevills's progress. Maybe he'll be back. Gulibon needs to get healthy, agreed; but he seems to have confidence issues as well, despite (or maybe because of) being a four-time PIAA Champ.

I don't know if Nevills will be ready come NCAA's or not. Johnson will be up against Fletcher Miller when they go against Indiana tomorrow. I can see a possible win at HWT tomorrow. #11 Nathan Jackson at 174 seems to be the only ranked opponent for any of our ranked wrestlers. There may be some other close matches with our non-ranked wrestlers and could be some good matches but I don't see a close overall match with Indiana. The three upcoming dual matches I'm looking forward to watching are Ohio State, Illinois and Lehigh.
