Question? Why would you take head coach Collier from Georgia Tech when psu alum Arielle Wilson has been her assistant for 3 year. If your going after a GT coach she would be the one. Washington just started her national team career she’s not available now. Future maybe. That’s the same way I feel about Megan Courtney. I think if she wanted to coach she has the potential to be great at it but she’s still playing on national level also GT coach can bring over the entire staff, including Wilson. We know she can coach, but she also has a great Brazilian assistant coach. Lastly, she has a pipeline to high level Brazilian players. With PSU's pedigree, she could also recruit high level U.S. based players; that is, more easily than at Georgia Tech. Arielle Wilson herself has strong recruiting ties. You don’t need all of that. Just bring Wilson home. I think it’s a different level of drive coaching when the colors run in your blood already. And I’ve said for years when it comes time for rose to retire I’d prefer next coach to stay within psu family. They understand the dynamics of program and what psu volleyball means.

Hello everyone, just joined to add my 2 cents to the big news about coach Rose stepping down. I think the next coach has to be great at recruiting and good at coaching. Initially, I wanted to see the Pitt coach or the Louisville coach, but I now doubt either of those two would even apply for the job. I think the Georgia Tech coach, M. Collier would be really good for the program, but I'm not sure the PSU AD would pick someone outside the family. I would love to see Salima, and know she can recruit high level talent, but I don't think she'll come back, unless there is a boatload of money involved, and even then, I doubt it. I liked Hughes from Maryland, I think he did some good things there, he's part of the family, and he can recruit. I also like the thought of some former players, like Alisha Glass taking over, but the big question mark is whether they can recruit the best. I feel like Haleigh Washington has the perfect personality to be a great recruiter. She and Adam Hughes from Maryland would make a good coaching duo. That's all I had. Merry Christmas! Good to hear from you, coachingsearch. Thanks for the input!

Well, I don't mean to be a grinch, but I would like to interrupt our coach search for just a minute and wish Nittany Nation A VERY MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR, may we get in our Christmas presents a new coach that will do RR justice. And to all a good night.

Santa Barbour?

If we can’t get Salima to come back then Heather Pavlik with Alisha Glass coaching setters, Nicole Fawcett coaching hitters and blocking, and Dom Gonzalez coaching the DS and Liberos.

Would have loved to see Karch Kiraly take over the program, but he just signed a contract extension through 2024 with TeamUSA.

Alisha Glass was an assistant coach for Stanford. I got to watch her at all the games, saw her at some club tournaments, and listened to some comments from player parents over PM.
Alisha was a fantastic player and has some coaching experience at lower levels. I don't think she is the right person for a head coaching position yet at a program like Penn State. A head coach has to project confidence in their speaking skills within a group setting and authority in what they instruct to all players at all positions. She may develop into that personality but I don't think she is there yet. Also she has a family and husband in SoCal and not sure her family would be on board moving across the country to a different lifestyle.
I still believe Penn State needs a coach with DI experience and a track record. Anything else is a gamble and there is no need to gamble when plenty of candidates will come calling. My guess is the AD already has dozens and dozens of applicants to choose from; many not being considered here.
Salima has the personality and the coaching skills to step in from day one and take over. She is my first choice but I believe a deal would have been made already if she was interested.

I just noticed Alisha Glass is on the Athletes Advisory Council for a new professional volleyball league forming in 2022. I don't know if that means anything. I can't tell if it is a ceremonial position or something of substance. Haleigh is also on this council. www.lovb.com/#pro

Regarding suggestion of USA Woman's National Volleyball Coach as a replacement is a unfounded fault. What I mean in this comment he has over the years distance his opinions of PSU players , coaches etc. Although he has some (few) on roster but shied away from many others for one reason or another. I believe he would not be a good fit for the university. We must stay the course with the pedigree of former players that have gone through RR's tutored ledge and make a sound decision not for the moment but for many season beyond and bring PSU competitively in the top tier once again. WE ARE!!
